300WM Hornady 200 grain ELDX

What is everyone's experience with the 200 ELDX out of a 300WM on mule deer from 50-500 yards. Kind of worried about blowing up on closer shots and not getting penetration.

Same powder I'm using and it's 1/2 at 100.

300 WM? 79.5 gr H-1000, 180 gr SST, LRMPrimers. Last ELK aprox 800 yds, one shot, never took a step! 100 yds just breaking in firearm under 100 rds fired at this point! Way better now!

It not the long shots I'm concerned about. It's the inside of 100 yards. If they are going to stay together

I also shoot the 200 grain ELDX in my 300 Win Mag. I killed two elk and a whitetail with it last year and a big bear this spring. No long range shots. The bull elk was about 300 yards and the cow was 65 yards. Whitetail was 75-100 yards. Both elk dropped right in their tracks. The whitetail ran about 30 yards into some thick Russian olives. The bear also went about 30-40 yards.

I use IMR 4350 and it's coming out just under 2900 FPS. Shoots well out to my 833 yard plate. And has performed well thus far.

Another powder I have had good luck with is IMR 4831 with the 200 grn eldx bullet.
