300 Win Mag and RL-26

You by chance didn't get the velocity of that 180 AB with 77 1/2 grs of R26 did you?

I shot 78 grs with a Sierra 180 GK and it wanted 5/8" out of a sporter weight Rem 700 with 24" barrel. Velocity was 3125 so I didn't press any higher. My old R22 load did 3050.

Scored a couple of pounds of the desired powder, been waiting a while so started the loads today. Played back and forth with Remington Brass and ADG brass. Loading pressure for either was pretty close to the same. Both brass were sorted, and finalized with bushing dies, ADG were/are very consistent. CCI 250 in the ADG and Fed 215GM in the Remington. Definitely started lower with the new batch and worked my way up, Custom 26" barrel and max COAL due to the mag box is about 3.514. Started with 180 grain Accubonds, 190 grain Bergers, 190 grain Accubond LR's, 200 grain ELDX and Accubonds. Loaded up some 212 ELDX in the Remmys but did not shoot these. The most accurate bullet in the bunch.......not what I expected but the 180 grain Accubonds??? Didnt push real hard and stopped at 78.5 grains, primers were very flat and slight extractor mark on the base, rolled it back to 77.5 and loaded up 20 more. Easy loading with RL-26 and it seems more consistent than H1000 and RL-25.
How accurate for the 180 gr and fps?

Here's what my 300wm HMR like OAL is just fitting in the mag the 4 shot group was number 9-12 the second group was 119-122 now speed is 2990

Double Dropper: you have the right Idea, I am a fan of r-26 and also the 300 win mag. I tell you a story ,,in 1976 I was working in Cranbrook B C at a sporting good store we sold out of ruger 77 in 7 mm magnums. I had a rough time selling the 300 wm we had left, but finally comvinced the buyers that the 300 would do the same.. I knew they would do better so I guess the Canadians finally caught on.. I like the accubonds they are game gitters for lo0ng range and any distance..

Not yet, keep in mind when I shot this load with Winchester Brass it was 79.5 to 80 grains....but with ADG Brass I have reduced this by 2 grains! Using ADG brass in all loads I have reduced this loading.

My short test was the same, 3 shot groups from 77 to 78.5 grs in 1/2 grain steps!! Need to test the load when temps get 80-85 ish just to make sure pressure doesn't escalate. Then I can load 100 and be done!

Usually 65-70 here tops during big game season but an antelope hunt could get into 80 s. Of course I most likely wouldn't use the 300 for that... 240 WB or maybe 257 WB; either plenty for speed goats!

Playing with a 25-06 for Antelope, thought about using the 300 but.......the wbees are great long range hitters.
