I am having a hard time finding where to start for a minimum load. Alliants website has a recipe but it just has one powder charge and it doesn't say if its max or min. I will be using 212 eldx and maybe 215 hybrids soon. If anyone has any info that would be great.

Don't guess get some solid info. Go to the Alliant site they have what your looking for.

They don't have the 212 eldx on their website that I can find.

It doesn't need to be the same bullet you want to use, just something close. Alliant DOES list the 215 Berger and the 220 Sierra, both with the SAME max charge. As previously stated, and as advised by Alliant (and basic reloading practice), back down 10% and work back up toward the max listed charge, watching for pressure signs.

Also, when you do back down to the starting load, this is a good time to perform a seating depth test similar to that recommended by Berger. Establishing your OAL early in the process will go a long way toward finding a true max charge, while helping to avoid surprises in the process. At the end of it all, you can still fine tune seating depth in small increments without pressure concerns.

5 grains seems like a lot less for the same speed. Right now I am using 76gr. H1000 with the 212 eldx at 2750 with a 24" barrel. Thanks very much. Still learning.
