300 PRC Powder

Going to be working up a new hunting load here soon and relatively new to reloading the 300 PRC. Recipe so far will be 208 grain Barnes LRX over [Retumbo, H1000, RL26?] Inside ADG brass with Federal Match primers. At 24 inches am I too short to be running Retumbo effectively? I have a couple pounds sitting around and would love to use it. Not crazy about RL26 with temp stability, this will be a 'set it and forget it' hunting load for this pipe for use across NA through out the year.

I would try h1000 then retumbo and rl26 if you aren't happy with the results of the first two. You will probably only get the 208 lrx to 2900 fps. How far do you plan on shooting game? I wouldn't shoot game with under 2000 fps impact velocity with the lrx.

Got it, thank you! Personal limit I have on myself today is 500. Why do you say 2000 for the LRX?

They won't reliably expand slower than that.
