I have spent days looking on sight and I have found a lot of info that has been helpful. I do not have the Hornady new 10th edition manual and was wondering if someone who does could tell me if it has data for.

338 Lapua
285 eldm
Rl33 powder.

I would appreciate it very much. Thanks

Thank you. I have been seeing guys running 96-100 grains RL 33 with the 285 eldm. I haven't been able to find any published loads for the combo yet. I was just wondering if Hornady added in the 10th edition since they were adding the Eldm bullets to that book.

hornady 10th addition manual lists:

285 ELDM -> 338 lapua
88.0 Minimum to 94.6 Max

clearly very mild, I am shooting 99.0 grains of rl-33 out of my 338 RUM and 285 ELD M, I hit pressure signs at 101 grains.

IIWY I would start at 94 grains and work up to 100.

Wow. Others list 97.5 to 98 with the 300SMK/Berger.
Of course those same manuals list the 338 RUM using more powder than the Lapua in RL33.

I did an OCW work up with the Lapua Mag with 285 ELDs in Lapua brass and a Fed 215. I ended up finding a node from 97.5 - 98.2 grains of RL33. I've now loaded my seating depth test with 97.9 grains to see how it tunes in.

The 285 tuned in fantastically at .020" off printing around .2 MOA. I'll take it out tomorrow to shoot some across the magneto and shoot a group out to 330 to see if the load holds together.

I'm tagging in for your results. I'm currently using H1000, but want to see your velocity.

Well I finalized the load. It ended up at 98.2 grains of RL33 primed with a 215M in a Lapua case with a 285 seated .020" off. Velocity is 2840 fps, which is about 70 fps faster than the best 300 Berger load in my 28" barrel. It's about where I expected it to end up.

After a little further load refinement I was able to tighten the ES to <10 fps by changing to a CCI250 and dropping the charge by .2 grains. This combination in Lapua brass printed a four shot group measuring 1.4" from a cold clean bore at 340 yards.

Load detail:
285 ELD-M .020" off the lands
98.0 grains of RL33
CCI250
Lapua brass
AVG velocity 2840 fps

Ive got a carbon six 338 rum barrel on the way. Should be here this week. Opened up my action for the 4" wyatts mag. Excited to try out the 300 berger and 285 eldm. Looks like most are running rl33. How is the temp sensitivity? My go to powder has always been retumbo with the 338 rum. Also have some rl26 to try. Any body try any of these combos? Hopin to really wake the rum up with the 4" magwell.

Hi all, need some advice since this is my first time loading the 338 lapua. I have nosler brass, running 91.5 grains retumbo, 285 eld m. Question is I'm finding a lot of comments about CBTO being 2.740- 2.750. When I load these at that spec it just about puts the ogive into the **** neck, powder isnt compressed at all but that just seems off to me. Is this normal with the lapua?

Im loading the 285eldm in my lapua at a COAL of 3.832 which puts the CBTO to like 2.985. Im guessing that 2.740 is to hwere the loaded round will just fit in a standard remongton mag box so they dont have to single feed.
