28 Nosler 180 h1000 seating depth test 300 yards

I know this sound way out there but I had troubles with my 28 nosler and tried everything I couldn't get it to group until I made a mental error and loaded my coal .100 shorter than my jam length all of a sudden it started grouping .25 Moa. It puzzled me for a while until I noticed I was a rotation out on dial caliper. Sure enough it likes to be seated .100 off of lands!!

Here is today's mess. Started with the 3 bottom groups in blue of r33 looking for a powder node. Try small increments either side of 84r33 next. It looks promising.
Top 2 groups in blue and 2 in white are .010, .020, .030 and .040 off the lands with h1000. Done with h1000 unless you see something I'm missing.
Again, 500yds and winds 5-7 mph from left to right. Not great conditions, but not horrible.

I agree your rifle apparently does not like H1000 with that bullet. I also agree you are very close with 84 rl33.

Copy. You guys think i should hit a seating depth test next or dial the 84gr in more?
When you are that close I am not sure it matters. I think I would lean towards seating depth testing at 84. Once you find the most accurate tweak powder. It looks like you are pretty close.

Great day of testing. 3 shots with a charge of r33 with 195s at 500

Then a quick ladder of sorts with 175eh at 500

And finally a seating depth test that found a nice node at 3.705" at 500

Next is load up some and take them out to 1200 this weekend

Thanks for the advice on making the seating depth changes smaller. I've always had luck, but it might have just been luck doing the larger jumps.

If it's a hunting rifle, I'd stay away from Reloder 33, way too temp sensitive from what I saw in my 28. You're better off giving up some speed and using a more stable powder.

How much is too much?? I´m going on an aoudad hunt 1 month from now and was planning on using my 28 with rl-33. Retumbo works well for me, but I can stretch the mv a little using RL-33. It is also a little more accurate.

I have a 30stw that loves r33 and 215s. Shot groups to 1000 in 80 degrees of variance(10-90f)thru the year. I didn't experience the temp stability issues. Keep reading it but I haven't experienced it. Only tested with this rifle though.

You'd have to get out and test it. In my 28, I did my load dev at around 45 degrees. When I shot in the summer at 80 degrees, I got hard bolt lift and major extractor marks. Decided it wasn't worth the extra 100 fps, went to H1000 and haven't looked back.
