270 Wsm

Here's a target that I shot a few weeks ago at 200 yds with the Berger 150's. If I remember right this was 12 shots. Off a bench with bags.
Not too bad for me.

I'm shooting a Weatherby Vanguard.....kinda, I've replaced the trigger with a Timney and the synthetic with a Boyd's thumbhole that I have bedded the pillars and the lug. floated the barrel.

For some reason I can't cut and paste on my laptop. There is a picture of it in the "new members introduction" area. "New guy from Wet, I mean West WA"

Here's a little range report on one...
sniper central forums

I'm not sure if you're a member there but you might want to let them know that the Berger 150's are out. The only place that I've found them is at Midway. The nice part is you can set a reminder if they are out of stock and they'll send an email when they get them in. I picked up two boxes yesterday and they are out of stock today.........but I'll sell a box for $50.00 :D Just kidding.

130 swift A-frame,OAL-2.670,win. case,fed 215 primer,67.5 grains imr 7828-trued rem 700 factory barrel. groups size=.357

130 hornady interbond, OAL 2.838, 65.5 grains RL 19, win. case, fed 215 primer. trued 700 factory barrel. group size=.626

140 nosler accubond, 69.0 grains RL 25, norma case, fed 215m primer, OAL 2.825. christensen custom, group size=.439 @ 100 yards, 2 1/2 @ 500 yards.this load falows a TDS retical.

140 nosler accubond, 62 grains RL 19, win case, fed 215 primer, OAL 2.85 rifle-tika t3lite, group size=.691

these are all hunting loads, i would recomend starting below these loads and working up.

i've used the 140 accubond on every thing from yotes to elk at ranges from 20 yards to 615 yards with exceptional results. these will dump a mule deer at 600 yards like nobody's buisness( right through both shoulders).

Please note that I have edited a response regarding overall length of bullet. It is 2.845 not the posted 2.745.....that my hp's and ballistic tips have been loaded at. I hope this did not cause anyone issues. It's well within the specs of the gun but not on the rifling as suggested by Berger for their bullets.

I just finished breaking in my barrel for my new .270 WSM. Now to find a load that likes my gun. I've heard that RL22 is a good powder. I got a pound of it, now I can't find any reloading data for it. Has anyone tried RL22 and what load should I start with the 130 grain Horn Interlock?

Here is the Alliant link for the 270 WSM. We just got done working up loads for the 140 gr Accubond and the H-4350 did much better all around.

Reloading Data

That link is for the Sierra bullets. Do you think the RL22 load for the 130 Sierra will shoot the same for the Hornady 130 Interlock?

I would just start on the lower side and work up loads, keeping a close eye on pressure signs. Read up on what to look for with signs of too much pressure. Most reloading manuals will have good info on this along with pictures. You should also be able to contact Hornady and talk to one of their technicians and see if they have loadings for this powder. Nosler as well. Some of the other members had real good results with the RL-22 powder, our 270 WSM didn't like it at all. Groups were all just over an inch and velocity dropped. We had much better luck with H-4350 using a 140 grain bullet. Every gun is different though, just keep it in mind.

my best results out of my savage 12fvss were with this load.
135gr SMK, 64gr H4831, federal match primer, winchester brass, COAL 2.861

it shot 10shots under an inch at 100yds last time I was out at the range... just bedded it, hopefully that tightens it up a bit..
I have some berger 150s on the way, still need to work up a hunting load

I load for the .270 wsm, Hornady SP Interlock in 130 and 140 grain bullets. I use RL22 and CCI primers. For the 130 grain Hornady bullet, I use 66.0 grains of RL22 and for the 140 gr I use 65.0 grains of RL22. You might want to start out lighter than that and work your way up.

RL19 is a good powder, as is H4831. I've loaded up some with IMR4064 today. I can't wait to try this load out too.

270 WSM and 140 gr Accubond

I shot a huge Boar in the head at 26 yards with 140 gr Accubond max load of RE#19 . Bullet didn't survive the impact hit him behind the ear and fragmented after it broke the poor boars neck killing him instantly. My hunting partner and I observed a moment of silence for the bullet.
