I have a savage model 111 non accutrigger with drop out mag in 270 shooting 135 GR. SMK. I'm looking for info reguarding stock replacment along with barrel replacment. I'm not concerned about the end result of gun weight since i have been interested in using a 1inch barrel. i'm looking to get the best i can out of this gun. I shoot a tremendous amount (1100/1200 rounds) in 8 months. any help or ideas would be great!!!!

best bet is go to www.savageshooters.com for some info and good prices on prechambered barrels and stocks for savages.

think you will find also that no need to go to a full 1 inch barrel and standard LV taper or PA taper are more than accurate enough.

What exactly is the LV or PA taper? Still learning all the specifics. My only experience has been building my 10-22 which I changed the stock, barrel, trigger, bolt buffer, extractor, bolt handle. Also bought a savage thumbhole 17hmr heavy barreled, full floating, vented. I love guns especially the feel of my fajen stock on my 10-22! this thing feels awesome!

Go to any of the barrel mftr websites such as Hart, Broughton, Krieger, Brux, Bartlein, Shilen and they show the specific dimensions for each style taper.

Thanks! I'm currently in in savage shooters site right now. Do you know of any others since this one requires paypal in order to become a member? sorry no pay pal.

I used to shoot with a guy that shot a savage 270 WSM with a 1 in barrel and a choate tactical stock. The stock was good although it wasn't intended for hunting, it was made for accuracy. We cooked up loads with 90gr hollow points, and had a blast watchin varmints explode. I'm sure Hornady has info for the 270 Win as well. These loads were also great for practicing all year getting ready for big game as there is a huge reduction in recoil.
