Is there any fur friendly load/bullets for this caliber. I don't think barns 120 ttsx would be that great.

Maybe the SMK, or 123 Amax. Never tested it on fur but the 77 SMK stays intact trough about 12 inches of meat.

Dont use an a- max if u want fur friendly. Shot a few dogs with the 140 a- max out of my 6.5 creedmoor and it blows them apart. Id try a 95 v max at somewhere around 3200 fps or use a 130 grn or so soft point bullet.

I think a fur load in 6.5 may not be possible. If it exists it's at the limits the 95 v-max is logical,as is the Sierra 85 grain. At the other end are the FMJ's, Lapua, and the Barnes Banded Solid. I have no idea if they are available or not.

Roe has some pictures posted of small deer, shot with the 123 A-Max (I think), and some pretty awesome wounds were the result.

Good Luck.

Iv tried the 123 smk's and berger 130 vlds out of my 260. I concluded last winter that the 260 was overkill for yotes and I ended up going with the 69 smk out of my 223. Although I will still take my 260 out if were going for long range and not worried about the fur.

sounds like a good reason to get another rifle???? Ok ? if you were buying one caliber for varmint, what would it be? Basically it would only be used got yoties and fur friendly 20 yards to maybe max 200-250 .

for only up to 250 yards you could use anything from a .222 to a .223

I shot dozens of them calling them into .222 range years back. Deadly caliber, not hard on the pelt no matter what is used really. when I sold the .222 and bought a .22-250 I started busting the pelts up.

Could try the .222 Remington in 40 grain vmax.

The 22-250 is an awesome caliber for varmints, however, I find that every single time I reach in the cabinet for a rifle to go yote hunting, I invaribly always grab my ar15. The .223 simply knocks em down, and I love the follow up shot capability for multiples. We are shooting 50gr varmint tips an they aren't exitting, but it only takes one shot to put a mutt in the dirt also.

I have a DPMS sweet 16 and I think it's perfect for Wiley... Shoots .3x at 100 and holds to .6x at 200 with cheap american eagle 50gr varmint tips. I freaking love that gun. No one can tell me that ARs arent accurate.... Well they can tell me... But I just keep chuckling.

What a great little gun. DPMS did it right when they made the Sweet 16!! Go DPMS!!!
I honestly could be a spokesman for them as I really am blown away with this rifle, so much so that when it came time to to buy an AR10, I bought a DPMS LR-308B...which shoots crazy good too.

My recommendation

Unfortunate for me I live in a state were the AR is consider the worst ever conceived weapon on earth, and the 223/556 is consider the most devastating caliber ever in a semi auto. I'm not allowed to own one unless I chop it up and make it look like something you wouldn't admit to going on a date with. lol

Where are ya at Travis? That's a shame! Ok... Then take a look at the savage hog hunter .223. Shoots .3x 100 yarders with fiocchi 69gr HPBT.

I'm in ny for a few more years till I can retire. Hopefully to a gun friendly state if such a thing still exist.
