What are some loads that will push a 140 grain A-max to 2900fps out of a 26 inch barrel? thanks guys!!

I have a 6.5-284, which not the same, but with the 140 A-MAX it shot the same as the Sierra, with clover leaf groups, loaded for 2950 fps useing IMR4831 at 44.0. Shot the chrony so I have no clue as to actual fps. This powder or similar. I looked up the loads in the Hornady manual and they are way off the end. Start low and you know the rest. I know I saw no problems with this load, and will continue along this path.

With a standard 260 and a 26" barrel you may be hard pressed to drive those bullets that fast without some very high pressures. Good luck and let us know what you come up with.

My accuracy load for my 260 is 42.4 grns. of H4831SC Win 7mm/08 Brass with WLR Primers. I have not crono'd this load. With the 140's it's shooting .40 groups. The gun is a Win. Mod 70 HBV that was rebarreled.

H-4350 is the "Go To" powder for this case. I got excellent accuracy with H-4831SC, but topped out at 2,800 fps. IMR-4831 is also a good powder to try with 139/140 bullets.
