Savage 111
260 Rem Criterion Match chamber
24" lite varmint 1-8 twist
Boyds Pro Varmint

Load specs

Virgin Lapua brass
140 VLD
45.4 grains of H4831sc
CCI 200

Last outing shot 5 just over half an inch at 100 yards off a bipod so I loaded up some more to shoot through the chronograph today. Speed averaged 2690 with low es and my group was nice and tight again. Just the slightest tiniest bit of ejector swipe on some of my brass, primers aren't really flat and not a heavy bolt handle. Do you guys think I'm good to go?

I'd say that sounds about right. I'm getting 2750 fps out of a 25.5" barrel when using H4350 to push a 140 gr VLD out of Rem brass.

Load up some more and see if you can repeat the grouping. If so I'd say you have a winner.

Following, I'm working with a buddy and his 12lrp 260rem. We just did barrel break in and pressure tested with two powders. Imr4350 and h4831sc. 140vld jumping .010". With h4831sc 45.0g-2816fps 45.5-2845fps 46.0-2873fps 46.5-2897fps. Next time out we'll be shooting 5shot strings for groups with h4831sc from 45.6-46.8 in 2tenth grain increments. I'll share our results.

I'm using a CBI 260 match chamber (.160" throat) 24" barrel in 1:8 twist. My current load using Lapua bras, wolf LR primer, 140 hybrid, and 46.5grs of H4831SC. I get super low ES/SD number and speed around 2785 avg.

Re: 260 load development finial up

My LRP in 260 that now has over 1200 rounds down the tube developed its best accuracy with my original load of 45gr H4831sc, Federal 210M. I could use either 142SMK's seated .025" off the lands, or Berger 140's seated .010" off the lands. Velocity with this load runs 2720FPS, ES<12FPS. While there are no visible pressure signs, I could only get two reloads before my primer pockets loosened. I have tried Lapua, Norma, and Remington brass. All will produce quite similar accuracy, and velocity but still exhibit the same primer pocket issue. This problem was finally resolved somewhat backing my charge down to 43.7gr of H4831sc. Velocity at this charge dropped to 2600FPS with accuracy and ES maintained, but enabled me to get 3-5 reloads using Norma brass. I have tried H4350, but accuracy is inferior in my rifle. I'm not sure if it's my particular chamber causing the issue, but I'm loathe to mess with the gun, given the exceptional accuracy I get. It serves as my competitive Egg Shooter, accounting for numerous wins competing against full custom BR rifles.
Best 100 yard 3 shot group using H4831sc, Fed210M, 142 SMK, Norma brass, generally shoots in the low 2's. Holds accuracy for 200+ shots between cleaning. My buddy took the picture at one of the Egg Shoots, LRP with NF 8x32 BR.
