Wondering how much real difference there is between the 257 Bee with a 92 gr Hammer Hunter and the 6.5 RPM with a 99 Hammer Hunter? Any body try the 99's in a RPM? Looks like the 257 will do 3700-3800 easily with the 92's from what I've read.

Tossing around the idea of picking up the new Mark V Apex from Weatherby. Really like the looks of it and for the price, I don't think I could even come close to having something built. Mostly wanting a laser, not necessarily interested in shooting heavies although options are nice. The 257 is a known lightning bolt. The 6 lug action for the RPM would be nice though to cut a pound.

Looking for some opinions. This would be just another to add to the collection and mostly use for days I can get to the range and also whitetail/mulies/goats.

I am not a big fan of comparing different caliber/chambering, bolt face, and bullet weight:

.257 WBY: .540+/- ; ~84g H20 depending on source document; 92g bullet

6.5 WBY RPM: .470+/_ ; ~82.5g depending on source document; 99g bullet

I hear ya. The reason I picked these two is because they are chambered in the Apex and I think either would "scratch" my "itch" so to speak. I'm doing circles on the pros and cons of each. Brass can be had and/or sized for the 257 (necking down .264Win, 7mmRem, or Peterson .270WBY). While the RPM may be tough to source although factory RPM ammo is available and less then the 257. Looking at speed, there probably really isn't that much difference between these two with the 92 and 99 gr projectiles. Lots of info on the Bee. Not so much on the RPM.

I believe you just made your choice on the chambering.

Ordered up a Weatherby Apex in 257WBY and picked up some 270WBY Peterson brass. I'll see how this shoots compared to my customs I'm used to. Wasn't going to go factory but when adding up costs, I don't think this one is a bad option.
