257 STW question

I'm kicking around the idea of building a 257 STW. I really like the ballistic numbers of this cartridge and the potential to be a fast, flat shooting rifle with gentle recoil. on the downside, from what I can tell, these things burn barrels like a mad man. I was hoping to hear from some owners of this chambering if the pros outweigh the cons and what to expect from one.
