Lately, I saw a few articles/posts on H100V, 243 AI's and custom action versus blue printed factory action.
since I just started shooting this gun, trying to develop a load, I thought I would share with everyone.
Below are the details and pictures of my groups.
243AI built by Kevin at MCR
24 inch custom profile Bruxs barrel
Blue printed stainless steel Remington 700 action with M16 extractor
first few groups, I use my 12X SWFA scope
then I switch to my Arken EP5
MDT LSS GEN2 chassis
Lapua LRP , SMK 107g
I had previously purchased H100V for my 25-06. But I found a good load with H 4831 and once I shot out the barrel, I built a 280 AI. So I had 8lbs of H100V to play with.
So using Gordon's reloading tool program, I worked up to pressure and then backed off and settled on 40 grains of H 100 V.
this is on virgin brass, and still needs to be fire formed to 243 AI.
while I'm doing this, I like to play around with a seating depth test just to get an idea of where the bullet might like to sit.
I understand fully, but I will still have to do some tweaking with the powder charge and seating, once I have fully fire formed brass.
The first 4 pics are my seating tests while fire forming. The low 5 o'clock shot at 2.167 picture I did call that when I pulled it. This is why I chose to go back and test at 2.167 again.
Further down are my results after formed brass. Additionally, according to GRT, my next node was at 42.2gr. I loaded one to check pressure and had slight flat primers. I backed it off to 42 and no issues.
Shot a 10 shot group at 100yds and was very happy. Took it out to 200 and still looking good.
Changed the seating on 5 rounds and it opened up a bit. But the gun has 30 rds down it by then and might have been warm. Will verify again later.
