Is it just a barrel swap ? What else is involved this might sound simple to some of you but would still like advice and techncal help

It is a tikka tx3 stainless was thinking of switching to 6 mm creedmoor and putting on a different stock. I have another.243 so was thinking of doing this to have something different for maybe antelope and or prairie dogs my .204 is only good to about 500 or so this could reach out a little more

Easy to do, order a pre-fit barrel of you choice, a barrel nut and go-no go gauge for the creedmoor case.

Remove old barrel and install new one, set head space and your ready

If you haven't done this before or don't have the right tools get a friend that has experience to help

IMO if you are going to re-barrel just stick with the .243 and buy something with a fast twist to stabilize the heavies. Not sure if you reload but .243 components are probably easier on the wallet than the 6CM.

Tikka is a great option for barrel swapping. The factory barrels can be a B to get off of the action, but using a good penetrating oil on the joint a few days before and the use of heat can help break it loose.

Buy a shouldered prefit barrel and simply spin the new barrel on and torque it. Check it with a go/no-go gauge and you're ready to go
