you might have a hard time shooting anything much over 69 grains with a 1:9 twist. for bullets heavier than that most people go with a 1:8 or 1:7 twist.

Hi there

My mate shoots 223 at 1000 yrd comps.
Hes using 80 gr Amaxs and from memory its about 24 grs ADI 2208.

It is a new rig so hes still getting used to it but it is making the old school in the club take notice, although it is affected by the wind WAY more than the 308s

Interesting to note that the drop chart for the 223 and 308s are almost identical
from 300 - 1000 yrds

Ive been in the pit marking when it comes in, and at 1000 yrds it is still going super sonic.

If you want exact details of his rig PM me,more than happy to help

I tried 75 vld's 75 a-max and 80grain SMK's in my 1-9 barrel and they are just to long to stablize. It will shoot 69, 75 and 77 grain BTHPs fine. Ive wanted to try 70 vld's but have yet to do so.

I have not shot to 1k with the 223 so I can give you any loads to try...
