I have a bunch of oversize .223 rounds. The problem is the diameter of the rounds at the base. Other than physically measuring them is there a gage that will check the diameter of the brass?

Thanks

Is this a bolt gun? Caliber? New or used brass?
How do you know they are oversize at the base?
Is the problem that they will not chamber?
Have you tried to F/L or body size them?

You may be thinking of Sinclair's hexagon nut which measures bullet diameter for use in a caliper. If so, there is nothing comparable for what you want to do.

This is once fired military 5.56 brass. I'm trying to use it in my ar. I reloaded with a Lee full length die. They will chamber but if I try to clear the chamber it's almost impossible. I measured a factory loaded round and it's about .003 smaller at the base than my Lee sized rounds. The factory rounds run fine. I am getting a small base die but I would like to be able to check them as I take them apart and resize.

I'll check it out but doesn't it do the same as the w Wilson. Basically checks head spacing and cartridge length. I need it to check the base diameter also. Maybe it does. I'll check.
Thanks

They say it is cut and reamed to match grade chamber size. So it can be used for checking case diameter.

Thanks I think this is exactly what I am lookin for.
