.218 Bee

Good evening friends, I was surfing the web and ran across a couple of Winchesters in .218 Bee. Have you ever had one or shot one? What I can understand it's good out to about 200 yds. 40 grain bullet seems the normal load. Is brass available?

Great fun little rifles. I have a Kimber in 218 Mashburn.
Brass might be a little scarce

My wife used a marlin combination gun in 218 bee to kill many deer on her family ranch growing up. Granted these are Texas Hill Country deer, coues sized. Brass is still obtainable if you're fine with hornady. Not sure if anyone else makes it anymore.

Brass is available on MidwayUSA right now... I bought some. I reload for my friend's Ruger #1. Fun little cartridge. Buy some brass while it's available, could be a few years before you see it again.

I've got a model 43 Winchester with a 2 3/4-5 period correct weaver on it with the side turret zoom. Love it. It's hell on badgers and coons. Shoots MOA with HSM 35gr vmax

I killed my first deer with mine in 1979. It was my grandfathers rifle, and I still have it. It is a Winchester 43 with a K6 Weaver on it. I don't shoot it much anymore, but It is a great rifle. The Sierra 46 Gr Hornet bullet and some IMR 4198 work pretty well in it. Brass can be hard to come by at times, but there will be a run every few years.

Oldie but a goodie ! In a Winchester 43 a great little gun using lighterweight .224" bullets its a great plinker inside 200 yards. Good to use in built up areas where a loud report shooting some vermin might be objectionable.
