No I don't have one and ain't getting one, was just curious if anyone has one and what they think of it.

Doesn't seem like I have heard much of anything about them..good or bad

Just curious was all. 😎

I just got a Lilja barrel, and installing it on my CZ 457 MANNERS MTR. I will let you know how it shoots. If it doesn't shoot well in this rig, it wont shoot well in anything. Ten ounce Timney trigger. Trijicon 5-50x56 Ten Mile.

I wanted to try out the 21 Sharp and give it a fair chance with good equipment. Living in California you can no longer shoot .22 LR for hunting purposes. Yes I know the 17 HMR will do it better, but was curious about this little rimfire. Winchester does not exactly have a reputation of producing great ammo. I have the 25 grain all copper bullet, 1750 fps. Even the HM2 rimfire, which I love is better, but no one produces non-lead ammo anymore for the HM2. My all time favorite rimfire is the Winchester Super Magnum (WSM). I have some non-lead in that rimfire, but again no one is making the non-lead for the WSM. The WSM rifle is a RimX with 22 inch barrel Bixn Andy trigger, and Elite MDT chassis. It shoots phenomenal. A 300 yard whistle pig killer with a Trijicon 5-50 scope.

We shall see...

Ok here's the build:

Trijicon 5-50 x 56 Ten Mile Scope, Timney 10 0z trigger, Lilja match barrel, 419 ARCA and Picatinny mount, 457 CZ, Manners carbon fiber stock.

If it doesn't shoot, it's the cartridge. Going to test it with all 3 types of ammo, but I really need it to shoot the cooper 25 grains since I live in California.

If it doesn't shoot, I will just pull the barrel and go to a different rimfire. Barrel is easy to swap out.

Will let you know how it does hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

Is this a threaded barrel or compress barrel attaching it to the action?

That looks Sharp!

I do like CZ's barrel multi-caliber interchangeability, or the ease with which it can be done.

Function and feed is perfect. The gunsmith had some concern, because the cartridge is just a little different than the .22 LR.

My buddy has the Winchester Expert target heavy barrel that Winchester makes, and he likes it, but it groups the lead version .21 Sharp well but not the cooper. He's happy with the rifle in case anyone is interested in trying out the cartridge. A much cheaper route to go. Buddy has a home in MT, so not a problem he will use it there on critters.

I did order a couple of hundred rounds of the lead 21 Sharp for testing.

I love this hobby.

I know they wanted to use the .22 LR case for economy of scale. They wanted a non-heeled bullet like in the .22 WMR instead of the heeled bullet in the .22 LR. They succeeded in those two goals.

Whether they created something that will catch on in the real world is open to debate. On rimfirecentral.com this has been discussed a bit.

Adopting this chambering will require a new firearm or at least a new barrel. That might be a minor hurdle to most here but in the real world of rimfire and the use for low cost plinking and hunting it is not a small hurdle.

The .22 LR and .22 WMR are firmly entrenched in the rimfire world.

One goal of the .21 Sharp was to have non-toxic ammo available for use by those who desire or need it. They could have readily developed bullets for the .22 WMR that meet that goal.

The .22 LR and .22 WMR for the most part share the same bore diameter. You can in a lot of cases swap cylinders on revolvers and shoot either. The .21 Sharp is left out due to the smaller bore diameter.

I would have liked to have seen a .22 WMR Short. Make it compatible with existing .22 WMR firearms while allowing the .22 WMR Short to be chambered in those revolvers that would allow. Might need a different mag with a rear spacer or something like that but at least you would not have to acquire a new firearm.

I agree. The 22 WMR would have been the easier route to go. The only upside for me is if this rifle doesn't perform I can switch to the 17 HMR with little trouble. They use to make lead free HM2 ammo, but no longer. I love the HM2. They also use to make lead free 17 WSM, but no longer. So at the moment for ground squirrels in California, my choices are 17 HMR or the 21 Sharp. If it shoots I'm good ammo isn't that expensive. If it doesn't I'm just out the cost of the barrel. My buddy is happy with his Winchester rifle in 21 Sharp. It's the heavy barrel target model. I personally like my CZ rimfires, and especially the 457 for the ease of barrel swapping. Put a good trigger in it, and it's "almost" as good as an Anschutz.

Thanks for the comment.

I have a 22WM and a 17SWM rifes. The 17 doesn't group very good. I felt it would do a better job. /To many other items on my plate to mess with it. Just watching. The ruger I have in 22WM, didn't group very good either. It is a compress barrel. I took about an 1/8 out of the forearm and got it to group to about 1" @ 100yds. Not bad, but not great either. I had the trigger worked over too.
