I can't find any load data for this bullet other than the 162 gr hornady has on their site. What is the max velocity I can expect to get with this bullet? What powder is going to get me the fastest velocity out of my 7mm rem mag with a 26" barrel? And I know the fastest velocity might not be the best grouping, but who doesn't want their magnum to be over 3000 fps if that is possible with this bullet. So far I have only tried H4831sc 59.0 grains, shot .5 moa no pressure signs but I don't know the velocity as I have no chrono. Thanks for any help given.

Go to Hodgdon's load center and check out the loads for Retumbo and IMR 7977. I'm running the 175 eld-x @ max +.2 gr. of 7977 and getting a 5-shot average of 2829 fps and SD of 3.9 and ED of 8.0 w/fed 215m primers. I don't believe you're gonna see 3000 fps safely, as I'm also running a 26" barrel, and I ran into pressure @ 2905 fps. If you don't have a chrono, work up slowly, keeping a sharp eye out for pressure signs as this data is for bullets w/ shorter bearing surface than the eld-x. I am using a .010 jump at CBTO of 2.775 and OAL of 3.484" FYI

I use 77.5gr of Reloder 33, Fed 215M primers, WW cases and the Sierra 175BT. I get 3007fps average from my 26" barrel 7mm Rem Mag into .60". Its Good stuff. Start lower with your bullet, of course, but its the first powder I found that would break the 3000fps barrier with a 175 anything "from my rifle". Mine is a simple, but cherried Remington 700 with a ss factory barrel. I get 3150 with R26 and the Sierra 165 BTHP! Interestingly enough, before I found R26, I was doing good to get 2950 with any kind of accuracy with several powders. To add insult to injury, at the same time I was working with my 24" bbl 338 Fed and the Barnes 160TTSX and got over 3000fps with TAC! I could "replace" my 7mm mag with my 338 Fed for 99.9% of the way I hunt any more, ha.

I was getting good performance out of rl33 in my 7stw also, then the bottom fell out (accuracy) when the temp. dropped a bit. I like rl33 in some instances, but 7mm is not one of them. Heavy pills (225-230 grain)in a 300rum will stabilize rl33 though...

I'd look at retumbo and expect no more than 2900 fps at the top for a 26" 7rem and a 175...

I am currently using h1000 at 66.5 grains with cci large magnum primers. With hornady brass and seeing 2930 average for my speed with a stock Remington 700 long range in 7mm magnum with a 1:9.25 twist. still no pressure signs and .55 5 shot group

I am also using IMR7977. I finally got out to find out how far I can go before I start seeing pressure signs. I started out at 66gr and went up .3 until I got to 69.6. I still had no signs of pressure. Primers looked good, no ejector marks, and no bolt lift. I am seeing 2885 to 2965. I measured my oal at 3.448 and I seated at .010 back at 3.438. I am hoping I can get out tomorrow and do a ladder test at 500yrds.

I run 71 grains of retumbo with 10fps deviation. 3073-3083 26" Brux. I also ran 71.5 retumbo 3092-3095 deviation. Both grouped under .5moa.

The first picture is 100 yards and the second is 300

RL26 has been getting the 180ELD-M over 3000 fps as well. I finally settled on 67.2 grains in my rifle at a 3.49 OAL(.015) off the lands and am getting 2970. Excellent accuracy though. 25" barrel.
