I read somewhere that you can used the same data for regular 7828 and 7828 sc!
Well I needed up with some of each and want to use up the regular stuff!
So I worked up 4 loads of regular in my 6.5 RMP Weatherby using 130gr Sierra Game King 130gr.
I loaded 5 loads of 7828 sc same bullet, 61.5 grs same primer, same Weatherby brass.
The regular 7828 averaged 3027FPS,the SC averaged 3150.FPS
That is 125FPS slower.
Guess if I want use the regular I will have to work up the charge!
Has anyone else noticed this kind of difference!
 
I've used more 7828 or SC over the years than any other powder, and to date I've never noticed a diff and have used it back and forth for several decades.

Did you clock them both the same day?

Also, you're obviously using different lots of powder, I've long said that it's easy to have a 100 fps spread between different lots of any powder and this could be the case here...

7828 is a good powder in my old 270, fairly close to what your speeds are as well. I mainly use it in my 7 Mashburn Super, it's a great powder in it.

If I get to the Seely one of these days I'll bring you some to try and or load up a few loads with different lots and with regular and SC and we can run our clocks end to end and see what we see:)
 
7828 regular was discontinued years ago and the SSC is near impossible to get now. I wouldn't spend any time worrying about the long cut version. I'd use it as a fire forming powder and move on. However, yes the data between them is universal but the Hodgdon lot to lot consistency is not there.
 
I found a slight difference to get to the exact same performance.
 
Shot both 7828 and 7828 sc.

No clear difference whatsoever between the 2 powders. They gave the exact same speed grain for grain with no classic pressure signs.

There is a little difference in velocities but difficult to attribute it to different lots, age or kernel size. I read on here some talk about the kernel size of the short cut versions may produce slightly faster velocity because there is more surface area burning at the same time. 🤷‍♂️
