6 Dasher will outperform .50 Cal at Long Range.

The 50 BMG at 1,000 yd BR:

"This is a good place for us to dispel the first "inaccurate" rumor regarding the 50. The smallest five (5) shot group ever recorded in a 50 BMG competition was shot by Lee Rasumssen and measured 1.9557 inches (0.187 MOA). This certainly is not my definition of "spray and pray", but it is going to take more than one tight group to dispel this deeply rooted perception. Perhaps you are asking yourself, "was that just an anomaly or is that type of accuracy repeatable"? Maybe Patrick Bieck can answer that question for us, but I think he already did. In August of 2014, Patrick shot a slightly larger group, one that measured 2.045 inches (0.195 MOA). Keep in mind, these are not 3 shot groups fired from a few hundred yards away. Each record group fired in an FCSA sanctioned match consists of 5 rounds fired from a distance of 1,000 yards."

Typically good 50 BMG 5 shot groups at 1,000 yds run in the 4"-8" range.

The .50 BMG was developed during WWI upon the demand of General Pershing who wanted a minimum of .50 cal or 12.7mm, mass 670 grains or 43 grams, velocity of 2700 fps or 820 M per sec.

The existing .30-06, was too wimpy against hard targets, like enemy vehicles & light armor. The French 11mm round had inadequate velocity. Apparently, precision target bullets and ammo were not considered as the conflict was not a sporting event.

I never shot a M2 but saw one demonstrated at Fort Lewis in 1968. The big bullets blew of chunks off junk vehicle targets - awsome! The 81 mm mortar was also demonstated at 1000 plus - awsome!

My miltary experience was limited to standing watch underway at sea and keeping machinery running and after that helping civilians transport tons of stuff on ships, check out locations & including security.

Later a nice man let me shoot his semi auto .50 BMG at our local gun glub - one round within .1 inch of intended spot at 100 - awsome!

I am a .224 fan, my choice is the .22-.250 with 62 ELDVT & 75 ELDM bullets with hopes for a .22 GT with same bullets. Less cost, blast & recoil than the .50 BMG.

I've shot .50's and Mk19's out to 1500 meters on demilled APCs in the Army. They seem to work pretty good.
