6 Dasher will outperform .50 Cal at Long Range.

And to think John Moses got it wrong all those years ago. Just think how many millions of dollars the US military could've saved over the years by running a Dasher instead of the BMG. LOL

According to some experts - 6mm is the only rifle that should ever be made and used for every single solitary use under the planet. It outperforms everything!! Soon they will be replacing tank guns with 6mm - its true

I've competed against a 50 cal at 600 yards, my little straight six BR shot way smaller groups and so did every person on that line shooting a smaller caliber.

It wasn't even close.

Isn't that comparing toads to elephants? I don't think John ever dreamed his cartridge would consider a "target" cartridge. It was built for one purpose, and it does that very well, well enough that it's still used for its intended purpose today.

The 6BR excels at what it was designed for too.

That's exactly right and to my point.

Well, I define "long range" very different than some, and then there is ELR. Using the age old NRA standard for LR (800-1,000yds) or the standard some of us use ( 1/4 mile increments for SR, MR, LR, ELR) a properly loaded 50BMG in an appropriate rifle can shoot some fairly good groups at 1,000yds and well, well beyond.

Is the 50 BMG a typical "competitive" 1,000yd BR round? NO, but in years past, I've competed against a couple of bolt guns in 1,000yd BR, and as an old 50 BMG shooter myself, it does come into its own at ELR. However with the introduction of higher BC bullets in smaller calibers and more efficient cases, it has fallen out of favor with many.

We used to "play" with 50BMG rifles by shooting 55 gallon drums and car doors at 2,000yds. Try that in winds with your 6 Dasher. ;)

( Full disclosure: I am a huge 6mm fan and own several various cartridges and rifles in that caliber.)

Well before an illness forced him to retire, Mark King was kept quite busy building them.
And also the 6mm Dashers that dominated the 1000 yd matches.
If i could post pictures i would show one all set up on a bench at a place where it could shine.
Ask the old fat guy on the scooter about it on your next trip to Williamsport.

Isn't the criteria or definition "outperform" the issue.
In my opinion, as a hunter or in hunting, which is included in the name of this forum "long range hunting" I would think both a combination of lethality & accuracy at distance is determining factor over the argument of pure accuracy. Much like the previous diatribe of 22 on elk thread, yes you can hit a smaller circle at 1,000 yards but popping a pimple isn't killing it either.
Just saying
