Well, I finally did it. I got my first confirmed long range groundhog kill last night. At 537 yards. I shot at it once before about 10 minutes before. That was a really close miss. The big male came back out and I ranged him at 542 yds. Dialed my scope to 8.25 MOA, settled the cross hairs on him and squeezed the trigger. The gun went off. I thought I had missed it again. As I was watching through the scope, he just stayed there and he dropped. Then I heard the "thump" from the bullet. Shooting with a suppressor is awesome. The speed of sound and the speed of light are really in 2 different universe. Just seeing him drop and hearing the bullet impact at different times is really cool.

About 4 years ago, I shot a groundhog at 429yds. only to find about 2' of guts leading to it hole. And just 2 evenings ago, I hit one at 428yds. only to draw blood. And that one ran for it's hole. Since I didn't put my hands on either of these 2, they were not confirmed kills.

My groundhog gun is as follows:

Remington 700VS in .243 Win
Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56
90 Tipped GameKing with 43.8grs. of H4350 going about 3085
Diligent Defense Enticer S-Ti suppressor

⭐ Very nice shooting!! 👏🏼

Man, what a blast to have those kind of vermin around...!

I usually only have feral pigeons. 🤷🏻‍♂️

After years on the fence, I finally sealed the deal on an airgun for my long range needs...:
I'll be trying for pigeons at 300y — when gun and scope clear the bureaucratic hurdles in my neck of the desert.... 💪🏼

Very nice work, Sir.

I can't even imagine having restrictions on an AIR RIFLE.

Yupp.
It's a cruel world out there were there is no 2nd Amendment....

⭓In the UK,
power limit for airguns is 12FPE (twelve footpounds of energy.... 🤦🏻‍♂️).
Getting a gun license is rather difficult. And gets worse as some helicopter parents turn into helicopter politicians.

⭓In Germany,
limit is a 6FPE.
A toddler with a pebble can do more damage...! 😆
Getting a gun & hunting license involves taking college-level courses and spending several thousands of dollars. Only about 1% of Germans has a license to own a gun — in the country of
•Heckler & Koch
•Walther
•SIG Sauer
•Blaser
•Mauser,
•Haenel, etc.... 🤦🏻‍♂️

⭓In Peru,
my last paperwork with the local three-letter organization took 8 (eight) months to process.

⮕ God bless the USA! 🇺🇲

Varmit hunters — go get them critters!! 👍🏼

.....and in Bolivia you just buy whatever you want for cash or gold. Including a case of hand grenades for dealing with troublesome titi monkeys that steal stuff and hightail it. Throw fruit. They grab and run. Then toss a grenade. But be prepared to duck if a small one can't make.off with the "pineapple" you tossed.

In Argentina, your guide probably has a machine gun. And quite possibly speaks fluent German. The Quilmes is decent.

Pigeons are not able to withstand my .17 hmr!! They explode!! I refer to them as free loading democrats!!

My neighborhood is full of nut bearing trees (acorns, pecans, hickory, etc), so tons of destructive tree rats (squirrels). They chew into attics, chew elec wires, siding, etc. I feed a hawk that visits me daily. Discovered that hawks also eat insects in my yard, I think. My PCP works wonders and my neighbors love it. Longest shot so far with a .22 PCP was 70 yards.
