Just for fun, What is your shortest shot on game with a firearm?

* Deer - forgot about the deerā˜¹ļø. Same rifle- about 20 feet from my tree stand, winded me and looked up. I was sitting, he was on my right and I had to shoot him from my left shoulderā€¦..only game animal that I've ever shot from my "weak" side!

I've had enough slip up on my right side that I practice left handed. I killed my first deer with a rifle left handed. 1st turkey, left handed, and two or three deer left handed dog driving. Marsh hens aren't big game but I've killed them left handed. And one Wood Duck coming in from the hip. You just never know.

I just drove past the ranch house as the sun was coming up on a whitetail hunt and a young buck was about 15 yards off the driveway. I stepped out of the truck, put a round in my .270 a dropped him. All I could see was hair in the scope so I looked over the scope to make the shot. The hunt started when I entered the ranch. This hunt was over in less than three minutes.

Many moons ago, I sat in a broomstraw field behind a small bush for camo waiting to see if I could could a deer coming by. I had my compound bow that day. A coyote came out out the woods loping towards me and as luck would have it came to within two feet but on my right side. I'm right handed and all I could have done with the bow was use it for a club. When he saw me he turned inside out and was gone in a flash. No shot but a very cool encounter.

I kinda figured you would have a 270 in your arsenal !

The first was a big doe that I shot directly under my lock on at 14 ft. I had to lean out and make sure my toes were out of the way. Her head filled my scope up. 270 win bullet right between the ears. No tracking involved!

The second was at 4 ft. running wide open. We were running dogs. This whitetail buck surprised me. I put a full load of 18 00 pellets from a 3.5" 12 gauge shotgun right thru the crease. 1" in, 1 1/4" out. There was Winchester Grex buffer scattered throughout the wound channel when we cleaned him. He slid about 10 feet and tried to get up. I doubt he could've gone anywhere but my lab mix that was with me 24/7/365 caught him just as he finished his slide. He was gone in under a minute.

I've had 2 instances.
Sitting on a stool in an oak mott bow hunting. Sow ang 6 or so little ones came in. I have 29 inch draw and she lacked 2 inches from hitting my nocked arrow. I had to wait until they made it to the Mott's edge and made a 3 yd kill. Without a doubt the best dagum hunt I ever had
Always carried rifle (788 in 22-250) in tractors or motor grader. Coyote was just off of the tractor steps, it allowed me to open the door and point and shoot, just glancing down the barrel. I've gotten a few more coyotes off of dozers with handguns but none that close
 
Wild boar at 1 to 2 feet. We thought it was dead - it charged from 20 feet - I took one step and dove , twisted and fired load of 12 ga buckshot. It landed dead on my foot.

Deer 12 yards, 338 Win, black bear, 15 feet, i had just shot a buck and was nearly done dressing it out, when I heard something coming through the Manzanita, I set my rifle on a nearby stump while dressing the deer, grabbing the rifle, stepping up on the stump i shot the bear right between the shoulder blades at 15 feet, 257 Ackley, wild hog 7 feet a sow weighing close to 400 pounds, 338 lapua improved, coyote that I called in, poked him with the barrel as I pulled trigger, 17 REM,
