22 creed the new 22-250?

I would have every 22 caliber rifle made if I had the money and room for them! I only have the 22LR, 22WMR, 22 Hornet, 223 Rem/5.56 & 220 Wilson Arrow. The 30 degree shoulder of the Arrow really does help minimize case growth. The 220 Wilson Arrow is very accurate with Berger 55 Target & Nosler 55 Varmageddons at a little over 3900 fps, 1-14 twist. The factory hammer forged Winchester stainless barrel is still going strong, I just don't let it get hot to touch. It was re-chambered by Dan Cowen, Washington State. If I was buying my first 22 speed demon rifle today, it would probably be the 22 Creedmoor.

I put a new barrel on my Ruger 77 22-250, Broughton, 1:8 twist just to shoot long heavies. It works just fine, usually under .5 at a hundred and more often than not, closer to .250 for five shots.
Two weeks ago I bought a Tikka 3x in 22-250 for a walking around gun. It is also 1:8 twist. Have only shot it enough to zero a scope but it seems like it will shoot.
I am the epitome of a "Fudd". I am heavily invested in 22-250 and won't be entertaining any thoughts about anything CM.

I have a custom built 220 Swift in a Mauser 98 action. Using 55gr SP I was getting 5 shot groups in an almost bug hole. I sure had kill a lot of ground squirrels with in. I just got a 22/250 and having it worked on some. Trigger and bedded. Will have to see how it does. I was thinking of go to 22/250AI, but my swift fills that in.

22 GT for me. It should feed from magazines well, have minimum body taper, & suitable case capacity for bore diameter.
I have 4, .22-.250's all with 7.7 twist and shoot 62 ELDVT and 75 ELDM almost exclusively. The 69 ELDVT is another contender. All sorts of powders, like VN 540, Staball Match, XBR 8208 for the 62 grain; H4350, Staball 6.5, R16, for the 75's. A case full of VN 160 also works with the 75's.
I view ths 22 CM as sort of a specialty cartridge - lots of case capacity for only a 3 - 5 % velocity increase over the olde .22-.250.
Taking a look at some .224 bullets that would work in quick twist .224 rifles;

My 22-250 deserves my loyalty and I have no interest in doubling my expense loading a new cartridge, I'll put that money into glass, hunting trips, and reloading components. A man must know his limitations!
Being satisfied is priceless. Some things money don't buy.

I have a couple 22-250's, both have 1-12 barrels and both shoot well and have killed groundhogs out to 470 yards with 55gr Sierra's. Not being one to jump on the latest fad I'll keep shooting them. If I need a heavier bullet I'll pick up one of my 260's.
There's a difference in capacity, and 22 Creed has a fantastic amount of market support, so I think it's definitely sticking around.
The biggest contrast is the standard twist rates. Older 22-250s were mostly 14 and 12 twist barrels designed for the lightweight varmint bullets. There's something magical about the 53g VMAX in the 22-250, and it's fantastic for varmint work.
On the other end of the spectrum, is the more modern case design of the creed, and it's SAAMI spec'd 8 twist. It's designed to take advantage of the newer heavy for caliber high BC bullets - ranging upwards of 80 grains. I built a bench rifle in 22 creed with a 6.5 twist to specifically shoot the 95 SMK.
Could you custom spec a 22-250 with a fast twist to come close to creed performance? Sure. To me, they're for different use cases. The first for fast lightweight bullets, the second for shooting heavier, higher BC bullets. I love them both!

Yep, if I did another one I would do a 22 gt for sure
Like another poster said there are so many 22-250s out there and the fact that the round is still being chambered by many manufacturers will keep it alive. IT's established and tested over time. So I don't see the 22-250 going away any time soon. I don't see the CM rounds will be removing any rounds from the market place like the .243 did to the .6mm Remington or the 25/06 will do to the 6.5CM.

News flash... the 22 cm & 22-250 & 220 swift all shoot the same bullets... its a barrel twist issue or ammo issue for those that can't load their own.
Now, 22 cal is slighted by the bc gods. The best you can get are mid 5's g1, and take custom twists are are hard to find.
Jump up to a 6mm and your bc can jump 100 points pretty easily.
The whole point of the race car 22's was a little bullet, alot of speed, a max point blank range, and a smear where a varmit used to be.
I personally keep a 223 & 22-250 varmiter around. Poke paper with the 223, and hunt varmit & coyote with the 22-250.

I don't even have a 22-250 and I still like it! I may just have to own one one day! Especially if it worked in an AR 10.
