What four calibers would you choose

Weirdly relevant question for me. I have a 300 WSM, 7 WSM (20+ yo), 270 Win, 6.5 CM, and 223 Rem. I have an old 22 lr and some shotguns. Since owning a farm allows me to deduct the costs of a rifle I'm thinking about what to buy right now- current candidates are 25 CM, 22 CM, 6.5 prc, and 7 prc... or punt until next year.

If allowed 4 based on what I've own and shot a lot? 300 WSM and 223 then a coin toss.

Based on what I've researched? 300 WSM, 7/6.5 prc, 25 CM, and 22 CM.

I am developing some brand loyalty though. I like heavy barrels. Bergara and CVA seem to offer a great product and a wide selection of medium/heavy barrels.

17 hmr
22 creed
6.5 prc or creed
30 nosler or prc

This is actually a great thought exercise. That seems to be about the right amount of rifles to cover everything i'm ever likely to shoot at, so why do I have all the rest of them?

22 LR
9 mm
12 Gauge

Anyone who doesn't chose those 3 is wrong, so that basically leaves you with one choice and then you have to decide if you want to hunt all big game with a .223 which is probably the best choice, argument could be made for .308, 30-06, 300WM or 6.5 Creed.

22lr, small game
9mm, for Pistol
5.56 for multiple AR's
6.5 Cm for big game
9mm and 5.56 for 2 legged varmints.
6.5 is a little light for Elk, but will do. Perfect for Deer and Pronghorn.
17HMR is a better round than 22, but more expensive and less versatile. I have a hard time leaving out 12ga, but except for bird hunting, I can use an AR more effectively. Magazine capacity and range are better.

I'm guessing the OP was referring to rifles and cartridges instead of caliber maybe. These four will kill most anything in the country.

.22lr
.224 - 22-250
.264 - 260
.30 - 30-06

.220 Swift Ruger model 1 (1978)
.22 Mag model 141A Savage Anschutz.
.257 Roberts model 70 (1980)
.270 Win model 70 (pre-64)
7mm STW Sendero (1994) Hart l 1-8 twist
.300 Weatherby Mag (1977)

Sorry, I listed 6. Use most for hunting on a continuous basis. Weatherby pretty much retired.

Lets not make it more confusing……we already have shotguns that are "identifying" as a caliber! 😱 memtb
Gee I guess we can convert ga to caliber.🤣

I always try and keep something around that matchest the Arny basic rifle they use. Where brass case can be converted to other chambers fairly easy. I guess I am going have to get another rifle to match the new rifle that the Army is using now. Just what I need, another rifle. 🤣
