How will Hornady’s remain relevant with Federal Premium’s evolutionary market breakthrough?

Here's the thing…this new alloy doesn't make anything really attainable that wasn't before. If people wanted 300 fps more in a 6.5, there were other rounds out there. But people chose a slower round for many reasons.

I think the main thing it does it let people in effect have 2 rifles in one. You have a creedmoor and all the benefits of that for practice and general shooting. Come hunting season, use peak ammo and get the power PRC or more without having to buy a different gun.

As far as other cartridges, if they release it in a 308, the same applies. The performance of a 308 with peak has been available for a long time, it's just been called a 30-06 or 300 win mag. Again I think the benefit is you get a smaller rifle for outside of hunting season and the benefits of a magnum during hunting season.

I think you are getting way ahead of yourself on how impactful this technology will be. Maybe it will be as big as your hyperbole, but let's see how it performs and how the adoption is. Attainable by who exactly? The vast majority of hunters don't load and just buy boxes of "bullets". JMHO.

Thanks for the info, I just assumed they had to be using super fast powder. (that's what I get for assuming) It's crazy to think that just changing the casing to steel could increase the efficiency by that much! Physics can still surprise you sometimes!
Nothing here from me beyond the pure speculation of a YouTube educated expert!

The 7mm PRC is directly in the crosshairs of Federal's 7MM Backcountry, and the 6.5 PRC might have just been gut shot by the Plus Peak 6.5 Creedmoor.
Federal reportedly promises a new product every year, but what if that's just smoke hiding other new products in their pipeline?
Plus Peak 300 Win Mag and 308 Plus Peak could easily both be market shaking products. Existing Federal steel alloy cases will create demand for more chamberings.
Evolution seems occurring at warp speed right in front of our eyes,
Federal saw what Hornady did with the Creedmore , and the PRCs and decided to up their game !
