Thinking about booking a black bear guided hunt. Can do either archery, muzzle loader or break out the ol 45-70. Any suggested guides in Arkansas? I'd be willing to travel to other states to. Preferably not a points draw but an otc. I always take the wife and step kids on local and guided hunts but figure it's about time I get out and do something for myself.

You're probably not going to get any answers on black bear guides in Arkansas. Now if you wanted to duck hunt you'd get plenty to choose from. I'm from Arkansas originally, and 90% of my family still lives there. There are bears in places where 20 years ago it was unheard of. I know the majority of bears killed, are taken while people are deer hunting. You may do some research for deer guides in the NW part of the state and ask them, or in the Ouachita Mountains area, maybe they would know. Good luck on your search.

I'll look into the deer guides. I'm headed to the quachita mts in a couple weeks on a utv trip. I'll ask around. Thanks

He has a magazine I think it's called
Bear Hunter but I may be wrong

If the quota is killed during archery season. The archery has 450 bear quota. Then there's only 50 bears for muzzle loader. And only 50 for rifle season. The national forest has alot bears. I see them squirrel hunting alot. My wife went on her first bear hunt. I took her she killed a toad. It ended up making Boone and Crockett. In the Top 34 bears ever killed in Arkansas. We was setting on the ground. She killed it with a Wicked Ridge 400 crossbow. Using a Tooth Of Arrow 100 gr XL head. Went less than 60 yards. If the white oak acorns start falling before season. They won't hit the bait as good. The smaller bears will still come in some. You hunt the acron flats.
