What is the perfect 300 Yard Deer Cartridge with low recoil?

Hopefully they were able to get the recoil down to a pleasant level.
Do it! My son and I each have one. His in 20" MTU barrel (a little heavy) with 1:12 helical flutes, R700 short action. Mine #3 sporter with same fluting built on Tikka action, 8.3# all up. Precision Rifle Barrels. His immediately shot 1/2" MOA. Mine needed to be bedded and about 150 rounds through it before it settled sub 1/2" MOA. Both running 133 Bergers 3000fps moderate loads. His N565, mine N160.
Although, my favorite whitetail rifle is a 16" 6.5x47. Good to 400 yards with Berger 130's

Nice to see another fan of the 6.5x47. I have two of them. One shoots 130 Berger's, other one shoots 124 hammers. Both work great on whitetail and have low recoil.
One of my favorite cartridges. I shoot one in 1000 yard competition and the other for whitetail and antelope hunting. Berger 130 and HH 110 are my "Freedom Pills" of choice.

I too have a couple right now. The aforementioned 16" and a F-class / PRS combo; I just drop the barreled action in one chassis or the other - 28". That one likes the 140 Hybrids and Varget if you can believe it. I thought Varget may have been a tad fast for the 140's but it's the most consistent for this barrel. Used N550 and H4350 for the heavies in the past…

Not exactly a low recoil oprion
I'm a real world results kind of guy. So I did the test my self. 22xc, 85.5 Berger running 3120 out of a 20" barrel. 125 yards on a mature Akansas slickhead. Blood trail was not hard to follow even though it was sprinkling. Don't believe I would turn a youngster loose with it, but if you are an experienced shooter it works great. If it passed through at 125, 300 should be fine as well. Low recoil, short barrel, running a can so no plugs or muffs, good maneuverability in the deer stand.

Well...a bit sleepy from watching the sun go down with the empty 6 Pack of C***s Lite beside me, I totaled up all 34 pages of opinions. The way I counted confirms the 6.5 Creed came in first with the .270 Win right behind it. Now yu have the ofishul report. Yurwelcum.

Some people don't like them.. But if you want to reduce recoil. Send your Barrel to mag-na-port international and have their muzzle break put on. I put one on a 308 Savage pistol. It changed the lions attitude to a kitten.
For my whitetail rig I use a Leupold VX-5HD 2 X 10 with a lit retical. I have gone from 200-300 yard shots to dense timber on the same shot during recovery. Scopes starting out with the 3.5-4 power as the lowest power range for me are worthless in my opinion. I a Leupold 6 HD that has a 1-6 power that I like for the 1x., but I use it for up close bear hunting. For the 2-10X 5HD. gives almost the same wide field of view, plus the 10X for the longer shots. One year while deer hunting we came to the truck for lunch when two guys from our hunting party came up asking for our help to locate a deer that knew was hit and in a particular area. I was hunting from a shooting house with a .270AI, with a shot potential of 400 yards. The Leupold 3.5-14 scope was a good plan, however I now found myself in dense woods with a 3.5X scope. Trees filled my field of view from the longest distance that I could see! Like 35-50 yards. For me personally I like the 2 X 10 versatility.

I generally like a 3 X 9 X 50. In the past, I noted a lot of scopes that did more than 3X the magnification did not have the field of view on the lowest power that I was expecting. Not sure if things have changed, but that experience stuck in my head.
My nephew tells me the 30mm tubes are much brighter (in low light) than the 1" tubes ... now he tells me!!!
