Carlsons choke?

I bought 2 Trulock TSS turkey chokes for my .410 last year and both had those steps. I assume it has something to do with stripping the wad away from the shot? Picked up a Jebs this year and it's smooth.

Good to know its supposed to be that way. Used to shoot pattern masters back in the day for waterfowl. They were supposed to strip the wad and make a shorter shot string. Don't know if it actually worked but I killed alot of birds with one sticking out the end of my gun.

I contacted Carlson's about turkey chokes for a couple of 20ga that have been hard to find.
First is a CZ720.
Second is a TriStar Cobra II pump action.
Rep from Carlsons recommended the Long Beard XL for both.
I probably would have been freaking out if I had seen the steps in them.

Yep. Those decreasing I.D's are manufactured to help, supposedly, tighten the pattern density.
