I got the Fly Rod out it's that time again
I'm heading to the Ausable
it's fly fishing season, I'm heading to the
Au Sable river, I do my reloading during the winter
Why does it seem so dead in the reloading forum?

It's more likely due to the sport shrinking because youth is not mentored, so there is a lesser number of newcomers coming into the ranks.
They are the ones with questions as most handloaders reach a level of proficiency where they may not know it all, (noone does) but they have a relatively trouble free reloading life. The odd qurstions they do have mostly concerns a new bullet or unfamiliar powder performance.

I would suggest staying off U Tube and learn to measure cases and components and how to test and tune from guys that have record of consistency and willing to share.

Honestly I try to stay clear of reloading and scope posts as they always end up in ****ing contest or my dog is bigger than yours with information they scan the web with. A lot just want you to tell them what to do or buy and want it now. With the improvements in factory offerings it's good enough for 80% or maybe higher of for their needs or requirements. Seems folks don't want to put in the time or the understanding of reloading. Reloading tools, components, and procedures and processes have changed/improved over the yrs. Most reloaders that have been doing it for yrs don't have questions as they know and understand what it takes or requires if anything and know the flavor of the month isn't required to produce accurate consistent ammo. I'm always willing to help but reloading is more than just a case, primer, powder and a bullet for me and always will be.
And now I'm realizing I probably would have been better off not writing this

Maybe us old timers have figured it out or can find the answer to almost question here. We need some youngsters to start reloading!!!!! And find the scope RANGE finger questions very interesting and sometimes entertaining
I' ve seen some wild reloading info here. At the same time there is and has been a lot of good information being placed here. It's brings to light problems that we come across. There some that has to be taken like a grain of salt.
I think we learn were to stand our ground, and where to let it go. Nobody likes to be called a dumb *ss either. Bullets seem to always be a fight. Case workup there a lot or can be a lot to it. It depends on what you want or hope to get. It isn't like a long time ago. Go in, and get a bag of 100 cases for a few bucks. Reloading will create a better round and grouping. Equipment updated, and other reasons is forever coming along. It's a good thing too.
When I make my final move, I will start again to teach people about and how to reloading. Which I am looking forward in doing that. I had a man here the other day. I think I swamped him in shooting and reloading info. At the same time I realize the amount to info I have in my head.
To me there a lot more steps in reloading now than before. Trying to create the bug hole group. Or at least that's what I work towards.
Not all people work at the same levels either.

If I'm sitting at my loading bench, I'm concentrating on what I'm doing...unless you're asking for "loading" advice.

Seems every loader has their own process to achieve the same end!
* - I once owned a Ruger Black Hawk
44 Mag with the (IIRC) 12" barrel. I decided I wanted some hot loads...and THAT'S what I loaded up, with a nice firm crimp!
Out at the shooting range, I thought, "What have I done?"
Because of the crimp, I couldn't pull the bullets! Only way to get my brass back was shoot them!
After blowing through 50 rounds of super hot .44 Mag ammo, i had to go to work.
My right hand was shaking so bad I could hardly write my own name!

After tons of reading I find the videos extremely helpful when learning to setup dies and how to use certain tools etc. I get what your saying, but if your not lucky enough to have someone in person show you everything, what is a guy to do? Read and gather info and try to be safe and consistent has been the approach.
I was on archery talk for a long time and all of the really good information came about from 2010-2018. Everyone really figured out shooting and tuning. Bows kind reached their max as well.
I feel like that kind of happened to reloading too and a few years ago there just isn't any new revelations. The info is out there and we know how to find it. No need to post new info.
