I have a Weatherby 7-08 that i can't find a load that works.
I have tried120grain thru 162grain bullets with every medium burning rate powder that is available.
And this rifle just won't shoot. It did shoot 1 group that was 1" with Hornady 139 gr SST and varget.
Next time i shot that load, it went back to a 4" group.
I size .003 off the shoulder, OAL is determined by magazine.
Has anybody else had trouble with Weatherby 7-08?

I've had good results with H4895 and 120 grain Hammer Hunter in my 14" Savage Striker pistol. I started at 41 and worked up to 44 grains. Final load was 44 @ 2876 fps.

I've tried IMR 4895 and it didn't do to good.

I put a different Vortex scope on the rifle and made sure everything was tight.

This rifle just does not shoot good.

It does shoot Sierra 168gr BTHP bullets under 1". So i know the rifle is capable I just can't find a hunting bullet that will group

What model of rifle?
Weatherby makes 3 different lines, and multiple models of each.

And yes, the only Weatherby I could never get to shoot was in 7mm-08.

I've had 3 different 7/08's . In each one Win 760 and the Speer 145 SBT shot great. Hybrid H-100V was also an excellent powder in all three. The rifles were 2 Browning's and a Kimber.

My vanguard shoots sub MOA with 120 Sierras and Varget as well as 139 Hornadys using IMR 4350. This is the cheap plastic stock version. Always intended to change the stock, but it shoots so good I hate to mess with it.

Check your mounts and try another scope. If nothing changes, bed the stock. If you tighten the forward action screw and the rear of the triggerguard moves, then you have some torque in the stock. Bedding should fix this. You can free float at the same time too.
