I am experienced in reloading although I would not call myself a pro. Without boring everyone with what I know I'm going to ask what I don't…today I tried to reload some once fired brass for 300 win mag. I set my die up like normal and after I ran a few through I tried to chamber them in my rifle and they wouldn't. I ran the die down a little more but it was extremely hard to size them.

So what am I doing wrong? This is my first experience with a belted case.

No they were not…I had a feeling that would cause an issue since they weren't. I did some trading for other brass with a member on here.
Are you the OP?
I wasn't aware multiple accounts are allowed 🤷🏼‍♂️
At any rate, sometimes as we begin sizing and squeeze the case body the shoulder will grow (move forward) before it actually gets pushed back. So you may just need to screw the die in a bit.
Do you have a tool to measure the shoulder?

Yeah that name was supposed to be deleted 🤷. Anyways I am gathering what you're saying. I tried to screw it in another 1/4 turn and then chamber a round. It was better but not great. Then the brass was crazy hard to run through the die so I thought I was doing worse than good.

No I don't have one…I'm assuming you're referring to the headspace comparator?

Yes I was referring to the headspace comparator, but you don't *have* to have one. But sometimes handy, and it's cheap.

Imperial Sizing Die wax is what I use for sizing .300WM it can go a long way toward reducing sizing effort. Especially when resizing brass that was shot in another gun. It's not a deal killer though, you should be able to get it worked out.

Also if most of your reloading experience is with more standard size cartridges like 308, 6.5 30'06 - it may feel like you're using a ton of force to size a magnum cartridge case but it might just be normal if you get what I'm saying.

Huge benefit with Imperial Die Wax

Another moon question…Is the belt supposed to go into the die or stop at the shoulder of the die? The belt was at the shoulder is why I ask.
Depends on your die, I think, on some the belt will go up inside the die, but it's not really contacting the die/ being sized. The die just comes all the way down to the shell holder so you have a point of reference for adjustment.
