Anyone able to get any 7mm Cartridge to 3300/160 or 3200/175gr?

As a young man I read Bob Hagel's exploits with his 7mm Mashburn Super Mag ( I think he claimed 3100/175?) . My best speed I could get my 24" Rem Mag to was 2950/160. Later in Life, I have tried 26" 7mm STW's, a 7mm RUM and a 26" Rem Mag. I was never able to get his storied speeds. I have read where both the 160 and 175 could actually be ran at these speeds, but how are they doing it? Are they exceeding the pressure limits? Now I read in a few places where a 24" barrel 28 Nosler ( a shortened RUM) has done 3300/160? How can this be? The ONLY reason I EVER wanted ANY 7mm Mag was for these speeds, ha. Not for LR Hunting but stretched string 400yds and big thump on big critters. I easily got 3200/210 XBT/340 Wby, but it was not 7mm! ha How did Uncle Bob do it? Opinions?

Oh yes, and don't forget P.O. Ackley's 2 vol. work, ha! The slowest powder I could get back then was Norma MRP, H870 and finally 78728 a bit later. What powders are you using Reelamin for these speeds?

Dont have my data in front of me for all the load development data. Current/final loads 7RUM 7828/Retumbo/8700, 7STW R25/Retumbo, 28Nos Retumbo. The 28 is 24" and is hard on brass over 3300/160, and its final load is right around 3275.

My last 7mm was the 26" 7mm Rem Mag, I used R26 for 3100/160 and R33 for 3000/175 (both Sierra SBT Gamekings) This was with accuracy, I could go a tad faster but it fell apart. I used 7828/140 TTSX in the RUM for close to 3350, and I could make good hits out to 600 (on targets) using a BP Reticle 3x9, but I really wanted that 3300/160! I want to add that all my rifles are "sporter weight", and I don't dial, but I do like to shoot through elk at any angle "if possible", ha.

Not being a LR Hunter, in any 7mm Rem Mag (or 280 AI) or 7 STW I always used factory barrels. I never had one's throat lengthened , etc. The RUM was an unknown aftermarket 25", but a #4 still. My recent 7x57 is a new Shilen #2, 25", only 25rds through it as yet, and it is very accurate (my first 7x57 to be so out of 5!). I figure when/if I ever can't live without "more" I can have it reamed to the 280AI alot cheaper than tweaking out a new 28 Nosler. I have never killed elk or similar sized critters with any 7mm, only 30 (mostly Win Mags) to 338/340,(Win to RUM and only one in 375 calibers. But deer/Exotics/antelope alot in 7mms. Certainly don't "need" a 3300/160 for them at 350 and under, ha.
