Any one go 6.5 stw

When Layne Simpson wrote an article on his creation the 7mm STW he stated if hunting with a STW it would most likely be a 6.5mm STW.
When my shop get back up One may put on together, should be a good thumper.

I don't have a 7 STW in my collection (I'd be glad to buy one from you guys), but here is a 6.5-300 Wby beside a 8mm Rem Mag.

Just curious. Got a barrel laying around but haven't started messing with it.
Not to criticize but you get to a point of diminishing returns. I built a 7 practical and I liked it so much I thought. How about the same thing but a 6.5? Wowow. I called Dave Kiff and had him make a reamer for the 7 practical necked to 6.5 with no other changes and had him add the bore rider throat with .110 of freebore to the first step. The 26 nosler takes 88 to 90 grains of us869 to get 3250. The 6.5x300 weatherby which is basically the same as the 6.5stw takes the same amount of powder to get to 3300. This 6.5 practical with 80 grains is getting 3300 with 80 grains and shoots very well from a 4 contour 3 groove 8 twist lilja. My first load was 81 grains and went 3360 but I had .001 expansion on a new Winchester case. So I backed off a grain for 80 at 3300 and shooting bug holes and cases lasting. 26 inch barrel. When Layne Simpson came with the 7stw I had to have one but I always thought it would be better on the 300 Winchester case. Nathan Foster from New Zeeland should get a shout out for doing the leg work on this and making it a reality.
