If a gun i own shoots no better than 1.5 inches at 100 yards with factory ammo it is going on gunbroker

A Remington 700 long action with the factory box mag, will fit and feed cartridges up to 3.650". A .264 with a 140gr Berger/Hornady/Sierra seated with the boattail/bearing surface junction at the neck/shoulder junction isn't going to be longer than that. Again, in 1960 you got 3070fps, probably with surplus 4831 or 4350. Today, fill that case up with a slow powder like I mentioned previously, and 3200fps is not out of the question from a 26" barrel.

A lot of people would be very happy with a 1.5" rifle.
I will not keep a rifle that will not shoot under .5 moa. Luckily that has been rare for me. As far as passing it off to someone else, why not? Disclose how it shoots and let the buyer decide what he/she needs. Not every rifle on the planet meets everyones expectations. No need to spend money customizing or scrap the rifle. Someone somewhere will be happy with it.

I usually but 700 actions to build by truing first, several years ago I bought a SA700 in 300 SAUM to build a 7 SAUM, it was so accurate that I couldn't do it. 2nd most accurate factory rifle I've ever owned. While it and model 7 have custom barrels now, neither one required any work to the action and both shoot well under 1/2" MOA. The other is a 350 Mag. This is a pic of the target with the original barrel. 2 different bullets, two different powders

I saw a guy at the range firing some kind of break open single shot .243. He was bragging about how accurate it was. When he showed me his targets I contained my laughter to be polite. He was shooting fifty yards, not 100 yards, and getting 1 1/2" groups.
To get back on topic, I'm really hoping ADG, Peterson, Alpha, etc. begin to make brass in the near future for this cartridge. I really think the 6.5 RPM with a long throat, loaded with 156gr Berger's at 3100fps would be an awesome all around cartridge. I think it fits a happy medium rule and will do well. It's more powerful than the 6.5 PRC and 6.5 SAUM but not as hot and overbore as the 26 Nosler and 6.5x300 Weatherby. It's also more modern and not as archaic as the .264 Win Mag, which it should duplicate Ballistically. Yes there's other wildcats out there that do just this already, but the RPM will have brass, dies, ammo, rifles, and data available widespread and on the shelf.
In the late 90's, I had a Mod 700 SA to ultimately be set up for the 6.5/284. It was for a flat, point and shoot deer/exotics killer (out to my personal limit of 375yd on unwounded game.) I only wanted to use the Nosler 120/125s. At that time, I bought a short chambered 9" twist.260 Rem Adams & Bennet barrel for $90 ( Midway) My smith put it together, finished it to .260 ( I had an opportunity to shoot some exotics) and I quickly worked up a load with the Hornady 129sp. It shot about 1-1.25" then. I forget powder/speeds as I've slept since then, but I killed a really nice Axis buck and a Mouflon Ram ( both under 150yds) and it was unspectacular, ( pow, run 75yds, fall) Upon return, I NECO firelapped the barrel with the 260 rems then the rifle was reamed out to the 6.5/284 and I necked down the 284 Winchester. I did not know that at that time, the reamer for the wildcat 6.5/284 had a shorter throat than the later SAAMI 6.5/284 Norma. So it was not surpring how aell it shot the lighter bullets. I loaded them to 2.79" I remember. Anyhow, I easily got 3200 fps with both the Noslers. Accuracy was .75" average (never over .90", sometimes .5") I shot that brass bookoo times, primer pockets stayed tight. My lonest shot was an antelope doe at 315yds. Easy cheesy off sticks. But man, did it kill antelope, fallow deer, axis, blackbuck, coyote like a Lightning bolt ! ( see how I "capitalized" lightning bolt? 
) but, it was a bear to feed properly. At times it was wonderful, other times loaded rounds popped out when extracting fired rounds, ha. When Norma, Lapua and Hornady brass came out, I tried to work up to my Winchester brass load. No way. Too soft, primer pockets opened after a couple firings. I couldn't get over 3100 or so, close, but not for me! I traded the rifle off to a friend who really wanted it. So...long story, but "for me" I love the way the "faster" 6.5s kill game, shoot flat, buck the wind. Did I get a 264WM and go for it? Noo… I chased the dragons tail with the hot 22's and 6mm wildcats. Now, I am waiting for the right donor rifle ( I love Mod 700s for builds, I can't help it) to have set up with "something" along the lines of a hot 6.5/06, 8" twist. An affordable 6.5 RPM would tickle me pink, ha. I "love" the idea of the Sherman, but its more $$ than I want to scrape up at this stage. Good, stout brass is wonderful thing! I have been using both Sig Sauer and Jagmann in my 300WM and, so far, they show wonderful promise. I shoot it sparingly. I will add that I am working on a deal for a standard Vanguard S2 in .240W right now. When I get it, I will shoot the devil out of it ( that's what Reverends do! ) and when it needs rebarreling, I can play with a 6.5/06 something for it too. Since I don't "normally" shoot the Heavies, and no over 375yd shots, I can get buy with a rifle that shoots .99" and under. Now, me and my Marine SIL shoot "breadbox" sized rocks at 950yds or so with a tweaked M1 (irons) and a Springfield Loaded M1A with a 10x Mil Dot scope. But rocks don't move, only that god awful, devil inspired "wind"! My nemesis! Arrgh

Rev Jim, I like the way you said kills like Lightning, I've used the same term from my 6.5 Remington mag with the 125 partitions.
I built two, one for my wife on a model 7 and I down load it using H4895 for her. I then built a Tikka using the long mag and it's a beast and has more velocity than the 6.5/06 6.5/284 Abd the PRC by at least 100fps. But you have to like tinkering with brass if you go that route.

That 6.5 Remington Mag also intrigues me, but rifles and components never "spoke to me", ha. Have you found a good source of brass or do you somehow make your own, and from what parent case/inside case neck reaming, do nut issues, etc?
