Good Mornin, remmy is also a big contributor of info and sometimes we all get sick of the "you aren't 'eth-ical' "rule number 1" if you hunt further than 500 yards" or "nobody is qualified" I wont slam someone for only hunting 200 yards. none of my business. but when you slam someone for being sarcastic and then hit the sarcastic throttle in the same post I would imagine a lot of folks would get on your back. any how, my apologies to Moose for this thread getting sideways its actually a good topic.

Moose did I miss if you shot over the chrony yet?

I got on this forum because I'm looking for something new to do. This sounds like a lot of fun. I will likely not have the opportunity to shoot at an animal except maybe groundhogs at extreme ranges. I don't see me going on any more western hunts sans possibly antelope. (Getting too old and out of shape) Most of my hunting is done in the woods of north east and north central PA where shots tend to be <100 yards.
But I choose the 6.5CM because it was either that or a .308 as my only choices in a LH rifle that were available without going custom. All I want to do is shoot long range steel and set up in one of the local strip mines and pick off odd colored rocks at various distances. The info I got on this site has been incredible and I appreciate it.
No matter where you go you will have skeptics and nay sayers. It's just the nature of the human race. If you see ejector Mark's and primers flowing into the firing pin hole then you have gone way to far already.
People just looking at their cases are fooling themselves unless you have an eyeball that can accurately see 0.001"- 0.0004" expansion.
Over pressure signs start to developed long before you can visually see them.

Book seating depths are always super safe which is good but one of the main benefits to reloading your own pills is seating that bullet closer to the lands while also giving u some more case capacity. Is there a reason u seating so deep?

So today was the last efforts in trying to get these 142 grain LR Accubonds to shot out of my rifle. With no luck at all I still figured I would post my results.
Average Velocity- 2659
Highest Velocity- 2671
Lowest Velocity- 2651
SD- 7

40.0 grains of H4350
C.O.A.L- 2.850
In the picture you can see it was more of a pattern then a group. So as of now this rifle will go back in the safe and sit until I decide to have it rebarreled. BTW the shoot and see target is 8 inch in diameter. Distance is 200 yards.

MOOSE39465 , So I have to ask what all have you done to your Rem700 since you started to work with the 142 gr LR accubonds . How many rounds has it been shot now ? was it new when you started to use the 142's ? Did you break in the barrel ? Have you cleaned it to make sure it doesn't have a carbon ring or copper fowling ? Did you try any factory loads to see what it liked the best out of them ? The reason I ask is I have had more then one rifle that didn't like a particular brand of bullet or a weight of bullet but would shoot another very well . As an example I had a 6.5 x 284 built on a savage action that only wanted to shoot 120 gr Nosler ballistic tips it wouldn't shoot the 130 , 140 of any other make and any other 120's . I gave it away to a gov. trapper to kill coyotes ect. with it as he didn't want to shoot any heaver bullets and it would run a 3 inch group with them .

I didn't follow strict barrel break in procedures, but I do clean the barrel thoroughly after each time to the range. I believe the rifle has about 120 rounds to its credit. I did try the Barnes vortex ttsx and it shot those decent. I believe I posted a picture somewhere of a group at 200. I was hoping to shoot 140 grains bullet so I could benefit from high bc. I also inspected the bolt last night and found that one side of the lug is making more contact. When I get back home I will post a picture.

I find it interesting what all plays into accuracy and sometimes it's some small thing that makes a change into how one rifle preforms over another . I had a rem 700 ,22-250 that I had the action trued and the barrel set back to compensate for that and the chamber re done for the correct head space . I had to start over with load development seating depth ect . but ended up with a fine firearm in the end that would put 5 rounds in a ragged hole at 100 yards that started life with a 1 moa on a good day . There is so much for me to learn and good people here to learn from and I learn a lot by asking questions or just reading the posts . Thank You for taking the time and answering my questions .
