This is my first post , i've been a reader up to this point . My kids , bless their hearts , bought me a Savage Axis 6.5 Creedmoor for Father's Day . I'm a 7mm rm man so I know basically nothing about loading for the 6.5 . I know there are a whole bunch of guys on here that load and have a great love affair with this caliber . I have shot out to 500 yards with my 7mm , from reading on here , I know I can shoot farther then that with the Creedmoor . This gun will probably just used at the range but possibly one day might make it out in the field .
First question , is this a decent gun to build on .
Next question what is a good powder to use , I read the posts on the 6.5 but being a 7mm rm man , I read but the brain didn't retain any of what I read for reasons explained . I'm looking for a bullet that i'm not going to have a problem getting in Canada , I know I can get Hornady at just about any gun shop around here . Powders , depends on what manufacture but have been able to purchase anything I use for my 7mm and 223 . I load for a few buddies but they buy their supplies and I load for them . Any help will be greatly appreciated.
