My name is Layne Pemberton and I'm excited about all the information available on the forum. On a personal note, I live in central Arkansas with my wife and two rapidly maturing daughters. My background is in environmental preservation and human health and safety. Received my BS in chemistry in 2001 but ended up working for State Government at the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality. Over the last seventeen years I have been a compliance monitor in Air, a Health Physicist in the Radioactive Materials program and have settled into enforcement position in the office of water Quality. Funny where life takes us.
Love shooting long range, it is quite stimulating. Years ago I started out with a stock Remington 700 in 7mm Mag topped with a Vari-X II 3x12. Developed my skills until I was shooting 10" stuffed animals (from a divorce) at 400 yards. But then the Flinch Fairy showed up, sold the rifle and I've been battling it ever since. My main interest now is military arms. Love my Springfield FAL, have an Egyptian AKM that will eat rocks and a Bushmaster XM-177 AR-15. Tried to scope the FAL but the mount would shift under recoil, but she is a tack driver on iron sites. There are others in my collection but my main focus, at this time, is a semi-stock XP-100 in 7mm BR. She will shoot a sub-quarter sized group at 100 yards with factory loads. After seeing the sale section of the forum I'm considering putting her on the block. Would really like a 1911 and equipment to shoot USPSA and IDPA.
In my "spare" time I sell flying rocket kits under the name Pemberton Technologies. They are super retro Flash Gordon, Commander Cody style kits for lovers of that sleek stylish 50's look.

Think I've babbled enough. Glad to be aboard!
