Help, Looking for a new hunting caliber, thinking 6.5-284, 6.5 SAUM maybe?

I had my Remington Model 700 converted from 7 mm Remington Mag. to 7 mm STW by Bob Hart. Hart 24" barrel with 2" muzzle brake. Loaded IMR 7828, 79.8 grains pushing 140 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets. 4 shots in one hole at 100 yards. Bob killed elk long range with the same rig. I wish I had loaded Accubonds. They have same ballistic coefficient and are tougher. I do not use factory loads, just hand loads. Very happy. Beware magazine is too short for shells with bullets touching rifling in the chamber. So load first round touching, and follow-up rounds slightly shorter to fit the magazine. The accuracy for follow-ups is still very good.

I've built 2 6.5 SAUMs, it's a great caliber. But for simplicity and good cheap available brass (Norma) and even better ballistics, I'd recommend looking at 270 WSM. The 270 bullet choices arent as plentiful but there are some good ones available now.
