7mm mag to a 28 nosler

Yes, it can be done. Not a 'drop-in' for the feed cycle to fnction properly as the Nosler case in based on the UMs, just shortened. Got a brand new Manson reamer and gauges, here.

You shouldn't need an extended box, but a "long window box", like is used for the UMs. The UM box allows for the 'fatter' cartridge cases. Probably have to do some file & stone work on the rails & feed ramp for the 'fatter' case, for proper feeding. I have one scheduled for after the first of the year, which will be my first 28 Nosler (the reason for the new reamer). I'm just guessing at what would need to be done, but after 20+ yrs. of building rifles, my 'guesses' are usually pretty good. It takes the UM box and file/stone work to convert a regular magnum action to an UM, so...........

Yeah. I'm wanting to pick up an old rem 700 cheap an get it set up. Still debating do I want to stick with a 7 mag or go with the 28 nosler. I'm wanting to shoot the 195 Bergers.

Good luck on that "cheap" 700. Only if you get real lucky. The big box stores usually have the lowest prices on the 'basic' model, that you won't find on the 'used' market.

So if you don't mind me hijacking this post. I'm wondering about a Browning A bolt to go from A 7mm RM to a 28 Nosler
