i have been working on some long range loads for my 30-06 and my 30-06 a.i. i was trying rl22 powder and rl25 based on some articles i read but i could not buy anymore for loading. I was reading a little on norma mrp so i thought i would give it a try. After a some loading using quickload as a guide i came up with 64 grains behind my 30-06 with 185 grain bergers vld and 65.3 on my 30-06 a.i. with 190 grain accubond long range. Both loads are close to the same velocity the 30-06 is avg 2911 and the 30-06 ackley is a little faster not much around 2920 both these loads should be around 63000 psi and im getting 1/2 to 3/4 inch groups. primers look good easy extraction. I am ready to give them a try out to a 1000 yards the first nice weekend with no wind. I was wondering if anyone else is using this powder for a 30-06 with heavy bullets. Both guns are weatherby the 30-06 is a backcountry and the ackley is a vanguard with a bell carlson stock both have 24" barrels. The 190 accubond at 2900 carries 1930 fps at a thousand with 1573 of energy and the berger is a little behiind that but not by much.

I haven't tried the Norma mrp but with those velocities you definitely have my attention. So its called Norma mrp. Right?

Norma MRP is right next to Alliant 22 on the burn rate chart. I would venture to say load data is probably interchangeable.

Powder Valley has some 1 lb'ers in stock for only $25...Which is not bad at all.

I'm also pretty sure Norma MRP is what Norma uses to load Weatherby factory ammo up to the .300 Wby Mag. I think the .378 based calibers use MRP2, which is even slower burning.

129. Norma MRP
130. Alliant Reloder 22

Burn Rate

I have a .30-06 AI, and have been working up a load using 185 Berger VLD's and IMR 7828 SSC. Once I get a good node figured out, I will chrono it.
