Midway won't say who makes their blemished bullets, but the 7mm 139 gr. bonded bullets seem to be seem to be Hornadys, as are the majority of their blems.

If that's the case, what's the difference between these two bullets? If they are the same, why are the blems more expensive than the first line bullets?

Blemished Bullets 7mm (284 Diameter) 139 Grain Bonded Spitzer Boat

Hornady InterLock Bullets 284 Cal 7mm (284 Diameter) 139 Grain SST

P.S.- The difference isn't the tips, since I bought the blems and they have the orange tip.

So now I'm wondering why the blems have cannelures, since the Interbonds don't?

Maybe that's why they are the blems, since someone accidentally put a cannelure on them?

SST's have cannelures,Interbonds do not unless by mistake or requested by the ammo manufacture.

I've got a couple of thousand midway blems in my reloading room. They are mostly hornady; I also have a couple of boxes of nosler accubonds in .338 that were cannelured-- probably for factories. My 180 grain 30 cal blems are hornady but don't have the ring just in front of the cannelure like the bullets from the 100 ct. boxes.
The only blems I've had any time getting to shoot well are blems with bent poly tips. You've got to cull the ones with bent tips. Blems are often a good value, but the last time they put them up I didn't see anything worth buying. They had the prices stiff enough you may as well wait for first run pills to go on sale. That will likely start happening in next year after the run on components starts to subside.

I have observed that most factory rounds have cannelures, and most individual bullets sold in boxes for reloading do not have them b/c most reloaders don't seat the bullet to SAAMI spec COL.

Most blems/factory 2nds that I've gotten where actually production over runs. If you know what you have you can pretty quickly identify what midway is selling though, like what was posted above doesn't take a whole lot deduction to figure out, or the 7mm 160gr blems midway had for sale with bonded cores and polymer tip where pretty likely accubonds.

I get it. These look like they really are Interbonds, but with a cannelure. Didn't think they made them that way for anyone.

You are right. I found a guy on Gunbroker who sold a box of Hornady 7mm mag. ammo, with the moly coated 139 gr. Interbond that has a cannelure. It's not on Hornady's website, whether moly coated or not, in any 7mm loaded ammo.

I'm guessing the Interbond is possibly just a handload bullet now, without the cannelure, unless some other manufacturer of loaded ammo is using it. That would put it into the over run category I guess.
