storage of primers and powders

Store in original containers. They say powder should be stored in a wooden box 1" thick material. I store everything in and old refrigerator. It is pretty air tight so any moisture can't get in and I also store my primers inside gal zip lock bags. Keep them cool and dry. Mine are in temps between 55 and 70* in the basement of my house.

this stuff about storing primers and powder is all hype.
While I was in the process of moving from one state to another
I had all my loading stuff in one of those storage places.
No heat in them, cold and then hot, humidy etc....Since then
I have only had 2 primers no go off..And thats been almost
5 years since they were stored for over a year....Now primers
of long ago would have been bad,but now days, they should
last a long long time.

I'm with Savagelover. I have used powder and primers that were stored in a friends unheated garage for over 10 years. They all lived through the gambit of weather extremees. Not a problem with any of it.

I keep my powder and primers in a old microwave that I put weather stripping on the door. Then put silica gel with them. Silica gel with ziplock bags works well to and is simple. Silica gel is a good investment it's fairly cheap and last for ever. When it turns pink you put it in the oven for 3 hrs til it dries out and turns blue.

:Dthey don't make a mico wave big enough for 8 lb containers....what happens if someone turns it on..lol Is a good idea though..

It would be hard to turn on after I disconnected the power cord(didnt work Anyway) It's got 2 8lb jugs a few 1lb ers and a lot of primers. Old fridges work good too.
