264 Winchester Magnum

3,600fps is amazing wow I was just hoping to get 3200 fps. I really going to try the berger bullet and see how that work. The Accubond sounds interesting also

From what I read the berger is supposed to hold together for two inches and then breaks up. Seen those video on you tube where supposely there shooting elk at 625yds and the Elk drops. Im new to Reloading, so just interested in all kinds of bullet. I always had Alabama ammo custom load for me. I just came across a lee Reloading kit and figured I give it a try.

FYI I know why the 120gr Nosler did what it did & that is why I'm looking at the 130 Nosler AB. I also know most deer shot are inside 200 YDS ........... But the BC of the 123gr Sierra MK & Hornady A-MAX would be nice but like the 120gr Nosler BT I have always wounder what would happen if I had to shot quick on a moveing deer inside 150 YDS at .264 Win Mag speed

I've used 129 gr Hornady SST on mule deer and Elk never had a probkem. They do a lot of blood shot. I used 64 gr of IMR7828 and had 3,300 fps and 1/2 groups. My mule deer **** were from 50 yds to 200yds and Elk 50 yds to 300yds. They did real good but like I said blood shot the heck out of them.

My load is 68.5 gr of Retumbo,WW cases, Fed 215M primers, with 140 gr Berger hunting VLD's, Works real good in all 3 of my 264's and gives me 3200 fps or better.
Apex how did your rifle do group wise with the 68.5grns, mine did ok 1" @ .010 off tha lands with the 68.5 I may seat them to .020 off and see how she does!

Popapi
My rifle shoots about 3/4" groups at 100 but about 1 1/2" groups at 300 with the 140 Berger.

The reason the 120 BT disintegrated on those close shots is because your impact velocity was well over the max impact velocity that the bullet was designed to operate at which is 3000 fps. Those longer shots the bullet has slowed down below 3000 fps. I chose the 130 Accubond for that very reason. I was getting over 3600 fps with the 120 BT in my 264 Win mag with Retumbo. Because I get close in shots sometimes on deer I decided to forgo the 120 and go to the 130 AB. Wise choice I found out. It works superbly on close in and looooooooog range. I average 3350 fps with the 130 AB and Retumbo.
How much retumbo are you using to get 3350 fps with 130 grain?
what barrel length?

RT2506 I would like to get that formula also. I just bought a box of Nosler Custom 264 Win Magazine 130 gr. AccuBond I wanted to use Chrony and see if velocity is close to the listed 3,100fps.

I started loading my own ammo pretty happy. I thought it would be more complicated. Right now working on two loads using 140 grain Berger vld hunting bullet. The first is US869 the second is with Retumbo. Seems like US869 is faster and tighter groups so far. I'm at 72 grains and got 2,909 fps and 1/4 groups. Retumbo 66 grains at 2,880fps and groups are 1" groups. No pressure signs. Ill continue to post

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you. My rifle has a 27 3/4" 9 twist barrel on it so I am getting a bit more velocity than most with shorter barrels. My load is 66.5 Grs Retumbo, CCI 250 Primer, WW case Reformed from 7mm Rem mag cases which were once fired. 130 Nosler Accubond OAL 3.450 and I average 3350 fps. My rifle also has a nice and tight chamber.

Nice my rifle has a tight chamber too. I like Retumbo but so far US869 seems to be the powder that works for me. I'm using winchester brass CCI primers and COAL 3.350
