Thanks I kind of felt a little silly that I didn't notice the first time.
after watching the vids boy that big 7 is smokin !! it doesn't take it long to get to the target even the 1400 Yrd shot.

I never even thought about it looking just like pics. I changed the name of the thread to indicate videos and edited the first test to say the pics are videos. oops

Are the bee's bad this year? Usually when it starts to really warm up the bee's get bad too.

If you watch the videos and especially something like the branches on the ground in the upper part, you will notice that the camera moves slightly at the shot. Since I was alone I did the shooting and videoing so I had the camera set up right beside the bench and slightly ahead of my left knee so I could get to it. This meant the camera got some of the blast from the brake and it's just enough to make it twitch a little.
That's something that has been really neat since the first day I got the AM. If you've got the horsepower to push the 200 fast enough and the barrel/twist etc. to handle it, then it's neat to see how fast it gets waaay down range. It is visible through the scope and you can hear the whack when you shoot, but watching it all on a video puts it into perspective better.

I don't know where I got the AX idea but with that thought in my head it seemed that the bullet was getting down range quite quickly.
Its good to see that the 7mm 200s working well.
One of these years me thinks I'm gonna have to go to a different rifling in my 270 AM. The 3 groove is just a bit too tough on the WC jackets. The 169s do/did well but the 195s are another story, in my rifle.

I haven't heard anything about the elk situation and unless I heard it from a personal friend I wouldn't believe anything the game department here said. All they know how to do is raise the prices, cut the seasons as much as possible and make as many excuses as they can.
I went to one of their meetings and left before it was over. It's a waste of time to say anything because all you're talking to is a degree hanging on the wall and a bunch of idiots that couldn't manage 2 goats in a 5 acre field of clover. If they tried the goats would be dead and the clover would be brown but they would still tell us how great it is and still sell us licenses and tags to hunt the "goats" and then look for us to be happy with the resulting game populations, seasons and environment.
Like I've said before, I know what it was like when my dad hunted, I know what it was like when I was young and I know what it is like now. I'm talking about areas not altered by population changes in any way. My thoughts about the two goats was being very generous to their abilities.
I rant and rave and carry on about the so called game department but I still buy the licenses and tags because I still love to go on the "hunt" whether I get anything or not and I will take any excuse I can to get out "amongst the critters"
If there are problems with the calves and possible elk herd numbers as a result, I just hope they surprise us and do something smart, but I don't set my expectations too high.

I sure hope the WDFW is wrong about the low calf recruitment. If they are right, I wonder why the low calf recruitment? Any ideas? Makes you wonder if a few wolves have made it back there. With a documented, established breeding pair near Winthrop, what, 2 years or 3 years ago now, it won't take long. I had guys down by Mt. Adams last season swearing there were wolves down there, but who knows. That's all we need here in WA...

I always figure that any time the game department admits that there are wolves, they are doing so after the fact and the wolves are probably around for some time before they actually tell the public and admit it.
My philosophy is that when out and about, I shoot all coyotes, small as well as the "big" ones.
I was up in Rock Creek a few days back and came to a spot in the road where it looked like a herd of probably 50 or so elk had come up on the road, milled around and then continued up the canyon. The whole road was chewed up with tracks and "wet spots" and droppings were everywhere so they weren't too spooked. They probably left the open road area and headed up the canyon when they heard me coming. That's how fresh the sign looked. So.....there are a few elk running around out there.

Good to see the old 7mm still performing as it should be for you. From what I could tell from the first three videos at 935 yards, it looked like a three shot group WELL under 1/2 moa.
Glad to hear and see the new 200 gr Wildcats are performing and hopefully they will be in full production soon ready to ship. I would love to start pushing the 7mm AM hard again with the right bullet. Orders would no doubt increase as well for the 7mm AM and with the new Raptor LRSS coming on line, it could be special. Are these test bullets or production bullets?

It's always shot good Kirby no matter what I feed it. The 3 videos were with 3 different bullets, of the same weight, but made using different techniques and settings in the manufacturing process. They were also all shot using the same scope setting and what's even better, there were 3 shots of the 3 different types of bullets and all produced the same results as shown.
When you built this one your sure did it up right.
These were some bullets that Paul used some slightly different settings on and wanted to see how they would perform when pushed to the speeds the 7mm AM can. They are still made with the J4 jackets so all of the quirks of the J4s are still there, it's just nice to have the big pills flying again. Paul is doing all he can to get caught up with production.
You know, I tend to forget the time that has passed and that it was at the very start of 2005 when we started it all rolling and after you went through some hell getting parts, and after the usual delays the gun showed up during the first week of deer season. Did some quick break in on a very cold morning, got it zeroed and proceeded to kill a deer and elk that year with fireforming loads. Both were bang flops.
