2A being ignored in NM

Tyranny works like this: The law is for thee not for me... they feel the Constitution was written so they can control us, not for us to control our own future as free Americans. They see patriots as worker bees in servitude to powerful and influential elites. Middle-class Americans can't swim in their pool, nor can the poor... they don't really want to share anything with others up to and perhaps including the air we breathe. I was born in 1945... I grew up like many watching all this happen. The bad news is it might go on for a while longer. The good news is, this rubber band "can't" be stretched much farther and when it snaps it's going to snap in the face of those powerful and influential elites... just read a little history, the day of reckoning is just around the corner.

"We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."

I think those men are about to show themselves.

God Bless America. Cheer

But they're under cover body guards are armed to the teeth
Honestly that's what makes me the most angry at politicians, in any nation, restricting the common folks from being able to arm and defend themselves and deter would-be aggressors simply BY VIRTUE OF BEING ARMED: these politicians are invariably protected by VERY armed and ready men. So it's just a matter of whose life is more important and worthy of defence then. Most people won't have bodyguards. And the police are hardly an omnipresent saviour to all in need of protection: I respect our police officers and am not bashing them in any way! But they're human too and you can't (and shouldn't!) have one on every single block just waiting for something bad to happen. I've been around some violent things (not gun related but violence nonetheless, scary) - I know what response times are. It's not acceptable to disarm and disable people and tell them to just leave their safety in the hands of law enforcement. But that's what these very well protected politicians will say.

To quote George Orwell's "animal farm"

"All animals are equal….but some animals are more equal than others." 🙁

They do have excellent green chilies in NM though. They blame crime on firearms. I say the root of the problem is because they took away qualified immunity. So NO right minded individual would risk their carreer, financial security, or their life to make an arrest. https://innocenceproject.org/news/n...JH9WSFvZZuNo9To5V4atABO5C6yYPd6WAvcGKmgK01UcE
Taking their qualified immunity is far from the root of the problem. DA's and judges that won't prosecute the dirtbags is closer to the root of the problem. As far as qualified immunity goes, what do the cops always tell people? Well if you haven't done anything wrong you don't have anything to worry about.

I was an ardent supporter of LE until covid. They've made their bed.

You've only added and proved my point. So if DA's and judges won't prosecute criminals and they take away QI then there is no motivation or reason to arrest people. And since there are some that won't support police then that adds to it.

From what I read, most law enforcement officials are not on board with it.
Local sheriff says they will not enforce this. He stated that he was elected to follow the constitution and not trample it.
If only more of the so called elected would follow instead of trample we'd be much better off.
And wasn't this the governor caught using tax money for purchasing personal items?

The local sheriff. There's the one guy in your county that you need on your side. They have the final say in what happens in their county. We all need to pay special attention to that position when elections come around. I know I'm going to make a point to do that going forward.

Usually that's the stance of the Sheriff's. However we'll have to see how the APD handle this since they have jurisdiction of the city. But since QI was taken away I doubt many will be motivated to enforce the gov's wishes. https://www.santafenewmexican.com/n...cle_67c1fb54-71ff-11eb-af7a-5b91cc72fd01.html

They prosecuted and convicted ever cop present in the George Floyd case. One or two were rookies that didn't have a clue. If the libs want to incarcerate a cop, they will.

Like that lady cop who accidently shot and killed a guy who was wanted on a gun charge. It was so very obviously an accident but they still locked her up.

I think that every cop in the state should've walked off the job when they did that.

She risked her life for that community every single day for 20 plus years, and she makes one fatal mistake on a guy who was running from a gun charge and they lock her up????

Sure makes recruiting new cops a lot harder, I would think.

The U.S. House of Reps needs to cut off Federal money being sent to New Mexico until Gov. Lujan reverses her decision. Gov. Lujan is a lawyer and should the courts dismiss her choice of action, the governor should be required to personally refund all legal costs involved to the state of New Mexico because her actions were beyond her authority (she ain't bigger than the U.S. Constitution). Failure to pay court costs should result in her being disbarred from any court.
