New guy. Intro and plan for my first rifle.

And you have gator dinosaurs!!
We have it all, gators, Crocs, pythons, boas, water moccasins, amoebas that came from the bodies of fresh water that kill you, and then the worst of all are the people that don't know how to drive in the rain. One drop of rain hits their windshield and they slow down to 20 mph put the flashers on and drive in the left lane. I wish I could be else where lol

Pythons, boas, monitor lizards and iguanas have been released by people when they didn't know what else to do with them and when hurricane Andrew hit south Florida some got loose from a herpetology center. The snakes can have egg clutches of hundreds eggs, lizards aren't much better. Iguanas get hunted with airguns and then cooked, I've never had them but I hear they are good. Snakes and other lizards are hunted and skinned, boots, belts, hatbands, knife sheaths, holsters, etc

I should've been more clear….I meant the "other" recent imports, that can't drive in a little rain! At least some of the other "imports" can be beneficial…..boots, hatbands, holsters, ect.! 😉 memtb

Hello,

Been shooting a lot, but always within 500 yards. Do pretty well there at those ranges with cheap scopes and guns. But I want to start trying further. I have an old semi auto hunting gun in 30-06 but it's not known for accuracy.
So I came up with this plan, take my very first rifle I bought when I turned 18 and rebarrel it to something more useful.

I never shoot it anymore, after many decades (90s).

Savage 110 in 223 but it's a long action.

So, I ordered a 7mm prc shilen prefit, small shank, 26" heavy palma contour for it. Also ordered new bolt head. Next going to look for a used orxy, relieve some of the action's maxwell so it will work with it and see how far I can take that gun for some casual long range plinking, maybe some prs matches here and there for fun, and some hunting (antelope and elk).

Thoughts or tips?

Anyway, hello and look forward to learning.
Have an old 90s Savage re-barreled from a 300 wm to a 338 wm, fun project, like my old gun again, will shoot through the same hole will one load at 100-200 yards. Enjoy your soon to be new to you gun.

Oryx stocks are great and not expensive new...save the search and just buy it from MDT....your barrel probably cost more! Welcome from Alberta Canada. I'm an MDT dealer here. If it's a Savage 110 it will drop right in.
