What is the best money you have spent on the shooting sport and why?

My state life time hunting license.
Then my sons life time combo fish/hunt license when he turned 17.

Now to get him to use it way more than he does!!

Shooting pop cans at 500+ yds with 6 or 7 other guys. If you lay them down they're a about 1/2 moa target. I probably learned more doing that in a short amount of time than anything I've done. The peer pressure brought my reloading, wind calls, shooting to a new level.
We did that but with .223 rifles, raggedy FMJ ammo and steel targets at crazy ranges. Side by side on benches, calling out different targets (at varying ranges) with specific shot placements. "350 yd target left shoulder". Some of the best times with a gun ever.

Also on the pistol/shotgun range doing the same thing, call shots with a timer. We made up crazy "games" to play with the rifle/pistol/shotguns, always with some tactical/accuracy/speed importance in mind. So very sad that my best friend is now gone and those great times with him are only memories.

1)Used student loan money to buy RCBS master reloading kit in the early 90's
2) swaorski 15x56 binos, these were game changers in my success in harvest and mature game
3) suppressor- wish I would have got on the band wagon early

Setting bravado, machismo, and ego aside and shooting a rifle with inexpensive quality factory ammunition with little recoil, but isn't a "manly" choice.

It has improved my marksmanship because I enjoy shooting it, and do so much more.

The M40a1 built by PWS/RTE in Quantico was auctioned on Sniper's Hide as a fund raising for a wounded Marine Scout/Sniper. The other is a 22 Trainer.

I don't know that there is just one thing but there are a lot of different things.
Family farm in Georgia where I get to hunt and hangout with my father-in-law.
Custom guns.
Shooting classes defensive
Range time with my son
My wife who had her own pistol when we met and is very proficient with it.

Good glass whether it be binoculars, spotter or rifle scopes!
Less ammo zeroing, confident in shots, can see better from dawn to dusk. Less walking with the spotting scope. Your better off with quality scope and a cheap rifle if your on a budget.
I could go on and on
